Home Decor, Birthday Bouquet Pumpkin

When I learned about this flower arranging technique from ever so clever Mary at Home is Where the Boat is, I immediately put it on my must do list…

I was looking for a container for a bouquet of birthday flowers when I had an “ah ha!”  moment and decided it would be the perfect time to try using a pumpkin!

I got a white flat topped Cinderella pumpkin and secured the block of floral foam with hot glue

I started by placing the largest hydrangea blooms into the foam and then proceeded to fill in

Be sure to give the foam a good drink of water! I glued it on the pumpkin first, then slowly poured 2 cups of water over this small block of foam, it is thirsty stuff!

I thought I had way too many flowers, but it turned out I had just enough, so you might want to get 2-3 bunches.  I got the 3 large hydrangeas, then a bouquet of roses, leaves, smaller hydrangeas and carnations, plus a bouquet of green wispy filler stems

I can’t tell you how much fun this is!

This pumpkin was part of DD’s birthday celebration and I chose her wedding colors since they just celebrated their anniversary in early October

What a beautiful blooming pumpkin Jenna! I know your daughter must have LOVED her birthday bouquet in her wedding colors on a pumpkin with your pretty combination of hydrangeas, roses, carnations and seeded eucalyptus! I’ve got to fire up my broom and fly to the store get some flowers for Monday. Looking forward to seeing all your boos and spooky fun on Monday )

    • Thank you Mary, this was so much fun, I can’t wait to do it again…my daughter was very impressed {hard to do!} Also thanks for naming the wispy green stuff for me {seeded eucalyptus} I am terrible at botanical names. Yes, next week is going to be fun!
