Fearless Friday, Wacky Witch!

I wanted to do a witch drawing, but didn’t have a clear idea of what she’d look like, so I began with a light pencil sketch

Starting with simple shapes, this Wacky Witch is immediately recognizable by her hat

Next she got some flying, unruly hair, a dress and broom

Now I was ready to fill in the details with ink

Use your pencil sketch as a guide for your pen, and make adjustments as you go

I decided she needed an owl so he was first penciled in

Adjustments were made when he was inked, and details were added to her hat and dress

There wasn’t much room at the page bottom, so I decided to have her dangling her shoes

Again using a pencil sketch as a guide before inking

Next came the kitty she was holding by the tail

I experimented with using a water brush pen to blend out the non waterproof ink

Kitty looks very frightful, don’t you think?

I slowly began to finish coloring

I did more blending on her hat and dress

Hair highlights, green complextion, colored owl, almost done…

Final touches with a white gel pen and a black .01 fine liner

I love watching you sketch and then finishing. You make it look simple but for those of us without those skills still can’t do it.😀

  2. Jenna, your Wacky Witch is wonderful. You do make it look easy, but for me it is impossible! Happy Friday!
