Recipe Box, Christmas Eve Menu with old favorites new ways

I am getting a little a Lot of help from Trader Joe’s for our Christmas Eve party this year

We tried the Crispy Vegetable Pouches and they are quite yummy, so I went back and got 4 more boxes!  I also picked up a couple of boxes of Mini Quiches, and Camembert Cheese and Cranberry Sauce Fillo Bites to lighten the cooking load

I will make Pigs in a Blanket, they are always a hit with all ages, and they’re easy to make

Recently I made them with a butter mustard sauce and the sauce made them crazy good! The recipe at end of this post

Make a ton, they will disappear quickly!

We’re also going to have a family favorite cheese spread, 5 Minute Mystery Dip

Even though it’s pictured on a summer platter, this appetizer is perfect for any season.  It is a jam covered block of cream cheese with a variety of other ingredients piled on top.  As it gets eaten, everything mixes together forming a sweet & salty, creamy & crunchy delight of a bite on a cracker or crudite…

It will look green and snowy, kind of like this Stuffed Snow Pea Tree another easy holiday app

I am going to shape the cream cheese into a triangle tree shape {see diagram below}

Then the tree will be covered with strawberry jam, topped with bacon, peanuts, scallions, coconut and chopped parsley, with crackers around the base of the tree

CC & I are going to make a big batch of Christmas Chex Mix today adding some white chocolate chip “snow” after baking to make it even more festive.  I made a few changes to the recipe and we are going to call it Santa’s Reindeer Kibble, you can see the recipe at the end of the post

We will pack it into gift bags for our Christmas Eve party favors, and she’s going to help me make handmade tags

Here is the final menu for our family Christmas Eve, 12 adults, 11 children, and Santa!

HHjr will grill the Teriyaki Tenderloin, and cut it into finger food size slices

Millie Ray’s Orange Rolls are a local gem, so popular I stocked my freezer with 3 packages of them several weeks ago

I have ham slices already cut in the freezer so all I have to do is defrost the rolls and fill them with ham which I will do on Sunday

The gingerbread men are another Trader Joe’s addition and the Carrot Cake Cheesecake Bites will be cut from a beautiful whole cake from Harry & David I received as a gift

Another easy party favor is Snowman Poop, {marshmallows} you can download the free printable label here

You don’t want to be too pooped to enjoy the holidays!

Here are the recipes

Jenna, you have a great plan for your Christmas Eve meal and you are so organized! I would love to have just a bit of your talents! Your menu sounds perfect for a group and wow, HH’s tenderloin sounds delicious! All the nibbles, love that pea tree and the Pigs in a Blanket will most certainly disappear in a flash! I will be printing and hanging onto several of these recipes. Enjoy your holidays sweet friend………..

    • Oh Emily, I am so NOT organized, nothing is wrapped, amazon boxes are piled in the foyer and I’m still not finished shopping…but at least I have the food under control! I hope you’re feeling better!

  2. Jenna, what a fabulous menu! Your family will so enjoy and how wonderful to have a little helper like CC! I haven’t had breakfast and your amazing food is making me hungry! Merry Thursday❤️

    • We certainly are getting a dose of Christmas weather today! Brrrr! CC and I had a ball cooking yesterday, and Super Boy and Big E happened to be here to so I had lots of helpers, and they made, bagged and tagged the snack mix party favors for our family party! It’s handy when they are old enough to really help!

  3. Great ideas for a football Sunday too!

I have no problem getting help from Trader Joe’s or Costco where there are some very tasty foods that cut kitchen time. I know your gathering will be a happy one and all will enjoy what is on the table.

Jenna, your Christmas Eve menu sounds delicious! My mother in law always has finger food at her Christmas gathering, and I always love it! It seems that the kid’s eat better too when they are eating party food. Trader Joe’s has some yummy appetizers. Merry Christmas to you and your family!!!

    • We used to do a formal sit down lunch but as babies arrived it became next to impossible, so now we coral the children in the dining room to eat and the adults get a chance to chat and nibble, keeping one eye on them! I hope you have a lovely Christmas Shannon!

  7. The stuffed pea tree really is appealing to me. I wonder if I’ll have time to do it. (We are going out of town for the next few days, much to our chagrin!). We’ll see but it’s good to hold in the memory bank for sure!

  8. Nancy says:

Everything sounds delish Jenna! I so wish I had a Trader Joe’s closer to me. I had a friend introduce me the cream cheese/chutney dip years ago, it is mysteriously good 🙂 Merry Christmas ♥

    • Yes, I’ve been making it for a long time, always a hit. I was so excited when we got a TJ’s and it’s only 10 minutes away! Hope everything is merry and jolly in your world Mary!

  13. You are one organized woman! Convenience foods are much better than they used to be. I think you have an amazing assortment here. I haven’t been to Trader Joe’s for ages. I may have to swing by and check some of your choices out.

    • Last year I wore myself out, this year is going to be more fun! Although the things I bought at TJs would be easy enough to make, it’s nice to have them made for me! Merry Christmas Pattie!

  14. Kitty says:
