Tablescapes, Mardi Gras Time!

We had a lovely, laid back Valentine’s day at the beach,
But February on the coast means
Everything is covered in purple gold and green!
Mardi Gras Madness, as the locals know
Means bring out the decorations, put on a show!
Crazy, tacky and over the top
It’s fabulous fun and goes on non stop!
The local favorite way to celebrate
Is to get dressed up and eat King Cake!
Music, masks, beads and moon pies
Be ready to catch something when the parade goes by!
Purple means Justice and Gold means Power
Green stands for faith, and there will be bead showers!
The masks make for mystery
Mardi Gras has a fascinating history!
Read about it here
Here are a few favorite Mardi Gras recipes:
California Dreamin’ Citrus King Cake
Mardi Gras ends with a final celebration on Fat Tuesday, which is March 5 this year, the grand finale of “carnivale” before the lean Lenten season of the Christian calendar begins… So have a little Mardi Gras fun now!

OMG, are they Barbie sized masks??? Ha, gotta find one for myself! Happy Mardi Gras season Jenna-have fun:@)
ha ha, I guess some of them are sort of Barbie size! I got a lot of this stuff at Walmart the last few years, I don’t know if they would carry it where you live but it’s worth a shot…
It’s fun to see this because Mardi Gras isn’t that big a deal up here in the north. We do have pazckis on Shrove Tuesday. though I haven’t had one in years but that’s about it! The table is very pretty and fun!
Thanks Jeanie, it’s a HUGE deal around here. Our house is only an hour away from Mobile where Mardi Gras actually originated.
This brings back fun memories. My aunt lived in New Orleans. Every year when my girls were little she would send all the beads and coins she caught from the floats to them. They loved them.
I always love your recipes too.
Oh how nice of her, yes all the children get so excited when they catch things from the parades, come to think of it, a lot of the adults do too!
I love your tablescapes!
Thanks Robin!
So adorable and cheerful! Set for a fun celebration.
thanks Valerie!
How fun! That tablescape looks really pretty with your chairs of the patio furniture!
Thank you Rita!
In the process of cleaning out, I found a big bag of Mardi Gras beads. They are in the sack of things to be gotten rid of, but you’ve inspired me to maybe something on the table with them.
Definitely, have fun!
Oh my! Before visiting your blog, I was just commenting over on The French Hutch blog that the Valentine’s tablescape has inspired me to start thinking of a Mardi Gras tablescape. Then I popped over here and…BAM! I love what you’ve done. Quite festive.
Thank you, have fun!
It is Carnival season!! Great that Mardi Gras is later this year so we can celebrate longer.
I agree! More fun that it’s not on top of Valentines day!
New Orleans is one of my favorite places to EAT!!! š Mardi Gras is so fun!
Yes!
Pretty and fun. Lots of great food ideas.
What fun and such a festive table, Jenna. We just got home from SanDestin and the weather was low clouds and everything just appeared gray. We were there for a wedding, so it was a short trip. It was pouring rain as we drove through Birmingham all the way home and it is still raining. Hope you have better weather this week!
Oh that’s too bad, it was actually beautiful in Orange Beach, like a weekend stolen from summer…I came back today, it’s supposed to rain on the coast for the next 6 days, so I’d rather be up here!
Oh WOW Jenna! You’ve really not missed a beat getting everything ready for Mardi Gras. Your table is adorable filled with the masks, and all the purple, gold and green. I love Mardi Gras at the beach, decorations are everywhere and then the fun parades in Mobile. I have a few MG decorations so I won’t do much but I have beads š
Hope you have a week of pretty weather there………..
All my neighbors have their mailboxes decorated, I just had to get some decor going! I came back today though, it’s supposed to rain all week and Id rather be in the ‘ham
Looks like fun!! Enjoy!! ššš
thanks Jill!
Laissez les bons temps rouler Jenna! Love your table and Mardi Gras round-up! I bet it’s a blast being in heart of Mardi Gras country š
Yes! Parades in our area will start in 2 weeks!
How bright and fun! We’re buried in snow here in Iowa. Enjoy the beautiful color and I hope to get to try King Cake sometime. I found my way here via Celebrate Your Story. Pinned.
Thank you Kay! I hope to post a version of King cake in a few weeks, there’s a lot of easy ways to make it and it’s a fun treat~ stay cozy up there!
How did I miss this post? We just got back from NOLA and I feel your excitement for Mardi Gras!
Your tablescape is amazing! And the recipes are fabulous!
You are amazing!
Thanks Nancy, Mardi Gras is big on the Alabama Gulf Coast…I will be going back in 2 weeks for the local Mardi Gras parades and Fat Tuesday!
Such a fun table I love all the colors. Mardi Gras has to be a really fun event, its kind spread and they do things here in Vegas to celebrate as well! Thank you for sharing on Oh My Heartsie Girl Wonderful Wednesday! Have a great week!
Such a lovely table decoration for carnival. I can see a lot of fun and joy. And the view is gorgeous. Have a nice day, Simona
