Take-out Tuesday, King Cake Crowns

Happy Fat Tuesday!

For our celebration I made vanilla mini bundt cakes

Don’t they look like little crowns?

I had some help too!

What makes these cakes so festive is the colorful batter

Gel food coloring produces intense colors

It is widely available in grocery, big box and craft stores

I used a box cake mix for the base, and amped it up with an extra egg, butter instead of oil, buttermilk instead of water, and additions of sour cream, almond emulsion, and vanilla pudding

Once you’ve made the batter, divide it into 3 bowls and add the food coloring

I used a mini bundt pan mold, and put about 2 heaping Tablespoons of each color batter side by side in the mold

Icing and sprinkles

    • Well, thank you, but I don’t bake with them weekly as you do! But these 2 are at a cute age, 5/6 old enough to be able to do it without any help, and young enough to still be excited about it!
