Lucky Me, Lucky You!

A lucky thing happened to me when I was on the coast  recently…

I have a good friend that lives in nearby Fairhope, Al.  She writes a column for Al.com and the Mobile Press Register, an Alabama newspaper with additional publications in Birmingham and Huntsville

“Hey, do you happen to be at the beach?” she asked

“Actually, I am here!” I replied

“I am entertaining author Mary Kay Andrews this week” she said,

“She wants to set her next book in Baldwin County and has asked me to show her around

She asked me if there were any upscale areas

I immediately thought of Ono Island,

Can we come by for a visit?”

😲 “YES!”

And just like that, Mary Kay Andrews, one of my long time favorite authors, along with Leslie Anne, were sitting in my living room talking about art, creativity, and writing like we’d all known each other forever!

This was such a treat for me, and I would like to give you a chance to win her latest novel, Sunset Beach, that comes out May 7.  This is not the book based in my area, that one is scheduled for release next summer.  Mary Kay Andrews {Kathy Trocheck} is from the Atlanta area and her family takes vacations on Tybee Island off the Georgia coast.  Many of her books are set on the South Carolina and Georgia coasts or in the Atlanta area. You can read about  Sunset Beach here

Mary Kay has written scores of wonderful novels, Savannah Breeze, The High Tide Club, Hissy Fit, The Weekenders, Summer Rental, Ladies Night, just to name a few!

My friend, Leslie Anne Tarabella is also an author, and her book The Majorettes Are Back in Town was released in late 2017.  Leslie Anne is a vibrant, charming Southern belle through and through, and she is absolutely hilarious!

You can keep up with Leslie Anne and read her highly entertaining stories on her blog here

I would like to give you a chance to win a copy of Sunset Beach and the Majorettes Are Back in Town!

Just leave a comment below telling me your favorite type of book to read and please let me know if you are a fellow Mary Kay Andrews or Leslie Ann Tarabella fan!

This giveaway is limited to US residents only, winners will be announced May 16

I am, indeed, a Mary Kay Andrews fan. I am not familiar with your friend, Leslie Anne Tarabella, but am always interested in finding new authors. Either one would be a real treat. I am currently confined to bed most of the time recovering from a small spinal fracture and desperate for entertainment and something to save my sanity. My favorite blogs, including yours, and books are currently my world so a new book would be a blessing. Thank you for the offer.

  2. Charlotte Hall says:

Good morning! Although I am not familiar with either of these two authors, I do love a good story and would love to win either of these books! We travel often in our motor home and I do love relaxing with a good book. Next trip – Minot, N Dakota for an FMCA international rally! One day we’ll get to Orange Beach area. Thanks, Jenna for your daily inspiration!

  3. Ann Woleben says:

While historical fiction is my favorite genre, I always enjoy a good “beach read” for those summer afternoons at home or the shore. We take our summer vacations on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and Chincoteague on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. Thank you for offering a chance to win one of these books!

  4. Jenna, what wonderful guests that you had the pleasure of having in your home. I have some of Mary Kay Andrews books, always great and fun beach reading. Of course, we love our Leslie Ann and her hilarious stories, I just love her book. I am currently reading “Becoming Mrs. Lewis” which is fascinating. Historical fiction is my favorite. Happy Thursday!

  5. Carol Ann says:

I just went to a used book sale and my prize find was an autographed copy of a Mary Kay Andrews novel. I was so excited . I will look for Leslie Ann’s book. Sounds like a good one, too. I enjoy your blog very much. Blessings !!

  6. Sandy Park says:

I like suspence, but am always up for a good Beach story. I don’t know either author, but they both sound interesting. Thanks for offering a chance to win these books.

  7. Robyn Henningsen says:

First off I have to tell you your print at the top of this post is in my Beach House at Emerald Isle, NC and I have received so many compliments and I LOVE it!!! I love to read biographies, suspense novels and some romance. I have Beach Town in a stack “to read”. Thanks for the giveaway!

  8. g Swinford says:

I love Andrews books and have read most. I would love to receive the book. Live on limited budget and do not buy too many books now.

  9. Jo Ann McCready says:

I am a huge fan of Mary Kay Andrews and love reading her stories set in these beautiful places. I have not read any of Leslie Ann Tarabello’s books, but thank you for introducing her work to me. I will be checking it out!

  10. Well that must have been a fun visit!! I love Mary Kays Andrews’ books!! And I need a summer read!! I love the cover of the other book (not familiar with her books) because I was a majorette in grade 8-10 and can still toss a baton around a bit (especially after a few cocktails!!) So, count me in!!

    • Ok, I am officially impressed!! Leslie Anne is about as Southern as you can get, so not sure a Northern gal like you would get her humor, but I think she’s hilarious! Yes, we had a great time~

  11. Doris J. Nollman says:

We have vacationed in Fairhope, AL., and such a sweet town. All of the flowers planted on the boulevards are gorgeous! I enjoy reading books that “take me away”, and I don’t have to think, just enjoy!

  18. How cool is THAT! So much fun! (And I love your paintings, too!). Of course I’d like to be entered in the drawing. I love reading just about anything — more fiction in the summer, and especially beachy books! Thanks for offering (and what a wonderful day!)

Would love to enter your give away. Love MKA and reading Leslie Anne’s blog. Just love your painting too. You make it look so easy.

  20. Vickie Adams says:

I enjoy reading both authors😊. Love reading things set in our locale, spotting places I may be, or need to be familiar with!

  21. Sonora Mann says:

I love both authors! They are my favorite books to read, especially because of where they are set. I got to meet Leslie Anne at Page & Palette during the Arts Festival this year and that was the highlight of my weekend. She was sooo sweet. And I so want to meet MKA and I am hoping to make it back down when she is back in Fairhope. I would love to be entered in the drawing!

    • Oh good! I hate that I can’t make the book signing in Fairhope, I have to be in Birmingham that weekend…I told MKA that when she writes her book based in Baldwin County not to make it sound too good! 😂

  22. Nancy Sharp says:

I love Mary Kay Andrews books. I also follow her on Instagram and occasionally get an email from her. I haven’t read anything by your friend Leslie yet but I do love reading about southern ladies and gentlemen since I happen to be a southern belle.

  23. Nina Casey says:

I just recently retired and one of my favorite parts of retirement have been catching up on my reading. I would love to win the books. I have read Mary Kay Andrew’s book in the past. I just finished reading Finding Dorothy by Elizabeth Letts – I really enjoyed

  24. Trisha Eldredge says:

Mary Kay Andrews is the queen of beach reads. Now Leslie Anne Tarabella is just a total scream. Everything about her is southern – refinement, wears pearls and has a sense of humor that is never ending! I began reading her blog when it was still Fairhope Supply. She is one of the reasons I moved to The Eastern Shore from the coast of Texas. Love both these ladies and I’m looking forward to following your blog now!

    • Yes, I drop whatever I’m doing as soon as a Mary Kay book comes out! And Yes, LAT is one of a kind, both amazing talented women, I was humbled to be in their presence!! Thanks Trisha, I look forward to getting to know you!

  25. Sharon Calvert says:

I’ve followed Leslie Anne ever since I moved to the Gulf Coast almost seven years ago … love her witty sense of humor and southern belle charm. It’s been a while since I’ve read Mary Kay’s books, so to win this combo giveaway would be doubly exciting. Thank you for the opportunity.!

I am very familiar with Mary Kay Andrews and love her work! Did get to meet her once at a book signing she was doing at Tybee Island. I live in Sunset Beach, NC so am especially looking forward to reading Sunset Beach 😉 How lucky were you to get to spend time with her! I will definitely take a look at Leslie Anne’s blog and book! It looks very entertaining! (P.S. We are in Gulf Shores this week and love your beautiful area of the Gulf!)

    • You picked a beautiful week to be here Susan! I didn’t realize there was a real Sunset Beach, Mary Kay told me how she had to be careful when writing, not to make anything to specific to an area or people, so I will be interested in hearing your thoughts after you read it. I can’t wait for the book about Baldwin County next summer!

  31. Lyn Fogarty says:

Hi, Jenna! It’s late, but I couldn’t sign off without throwing in my chance at the books! I adore Leslie Anne Tarrabella. I follow her articles and look forward to reading her book soon. I honestly feel like I know her personally from reading her words… and what I’ve heard about Mary Kay Andrews makes me want to load up on her books for some hot summer reads! 😉 Now that Leslie Anne has introduced me to your blog, I plan to follow you as well! Yay for me! I win, no matter what!

    • Oh good, thanks Lyn! Leslie Anne is so much fun and so talented, and I have read every one of MKAs books and can assure you they are all fantastic!

      • Nancy says:

What an exciting day for you!

You my dear have introduced me to two …fine new authors! I am going to look them up. I just was over at Leslie’s blog. How fun! Thank you for introducing her to us!

I am currently reading books on travel to Italy!!! We are going soon!

      • Italy, wow, that’s exciting!! I think you will love both these authors Nancy!

  32. Julie says:

How exciting to have met Mary Kay Andrews and she writes such lovely books. It’s so nice that you know the other author too. I love a great beach read and I’m a fan of Mary Kay Andrews. I will check out both of those books. Thanks for the recommendation of these authors and books. 🙂

  33. Angela Wolfe says:

I went to the MKA signing at Page and Pallet last summer and picked up her book “Hissy Fit”. It had me pulling the covers over my head and giggling out loud when I read it one night. ( so I wouldn’t bother those around me – not sure how successful that really works but I tried). 😂 planning on reading the Majorettes Are Back in Town too, as my momma was in the marching band back in the day and I am sure there is a story there too.

  34. Jennie Kendall says:

I’m anxiously awaiting MKA’s next book. I’ve read them all. I have enjoyed Leslie’s southern wit for several years now and would love to read her book as well. Thank you for the chance.

  35. I love beach stories, turtle stories, World War Two history, historical fiction, and the NLT of the Bible. Have been looking forward to the release of Sunset Beach!

  36. Mary says:

Too fun Jenna! I love Mary Kay Andrews and her characters! It’s been a few years since I read one of her books, but they make the perfect beach read 🙂

    • Yes, it was such a treat to talk to her about her writing and how she develops her novels. I can’t wait for her book about our area to come out next year…I asked her not to make it sound too good 😂

  37. Kitty says:

What a wonderful giveaway, Jenna!!! I’ll bet you had such a great visit with those two ladies. I usually love historical fiction, but I’m open to anything, and do love a great summer read. Thank you for sharing!

  38. Elaine R. says:
