Holidays, Smooth Sailing to Memorial Day

Can you believe Memorial Day is only a week away?

Such an important holiday to honor all that have served

I’m heading to the coast soon to get ready for a long weekend with family

Time to start thinking about food and decorations…

I rounded up some of my very favorites for inspiration

The first thing I’ll do is decorate!

Summer Sand Dollar Flag

Red, White & Beach Flag Tree

I will get out my Firecracker Chargers and Flag Glasses

There is still time to paint Flag Glasses and Firecracker Chargers for your Summer festivities

Red, white and blue painted bottles are not only decorative, they can be vases too!

Hobby Lobby has a great selection of red white and blue things, and festive decor on sale right now

A Kitchen Island Star Spangled Buffet & Snack Station keeps plates and flatware handy and easy access snack jars

I use a mixture of paper plates, mostly for the kids and quick snacks, and melamine plates, there are so many cute ones now!

Everything is handy for serving

I love to use fresh flowers on the outdoor table,

they thrive in the humidity

Flip Flops, Firecrackers, and Flags

And of course we will need food!

Let’s talk dessert first, shall we?

Triple Chocolate USA Bundt Cake is a crowd pleaser

Or how about a Watermelon Ice Cream Pie

or Chocolate Chip Watermelon Mini Cupcakes

Or a trompe l’oeil {fool the eye} Corn on the Cob Cake

HHjr will have his grills going

Kebabs are always a favorite, as well as spare ribs and grilled shrimp

Sweet Chili Teriyaki Chicken Kebabs with Pineapple and Smoked Sausage

Asian Glazed BBQ Ribs

Blackened Lemon Shrimp Skewers

I have pinned lots of side dishes, salads and appetizers

for quick reference also

Recipes great for Memorial Day and all summer long,

    • Thank you Nancy! As you know, the best part about painting on glass is it’s easily wiped or washed off if you mess up! The flags are easy, give it a try!

      • Nancy says:

Jenna, I love to decorate with red, white, and blue for the summer holidays. I bring out my Uncle Sam collection and my Lady Liberity pieces. I usualy start at Memorial Day, but will see if I get motivated to pull things out. You may need to light a fire cracker under me!

    • I have been thinking of you this week Sarah, I took a car load full of things to the Salvation Army, and was so proud of myself! My closet is so happy now and my garage is getting better! Have fun decorating 🇺🇸

Oh my goodness! I love it all. The decor, food, desserts! I am coming to hang out with you on Memorial Day. LOL! I actually have not even thought about it! I have been so busy with grandbabies, baking, showers and etc. But, I might decide to use the ORION cooker and do some ribs. That is sounding pretty good. I hope that you have a wonderful Memorial day dear lady. As always Jenna, you truly inspire me. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  14. Everything looks so patriotic and yummy! I’ve been concentrating on getting weeding and housework done and my local garden club that I haven’t even thought of the holiday coming up. Sheesh, I feel so behind. Thanks for the gorgeous reminder. I need to get my fanny in gear and get my flags out and start thinking about the food! Those ribs looks right up my alley, so I probably will be doing those yummy delights.

  15. Linda says:

Way to go Jenna. Your patriotic decor is spot on. Love your painted pieces. What talent you have.

Hope you and your family have a wonderful holiday–out here in blog land we feel like we know your loved ones–sorta’ like they have a huge group of loving “aunts.” Enjoy this special day of remembrance.

Watermelon and shrimp! Perfect for a holiday! The corn on the cob cake is pretty interesting also…looks just like the real thing! Your holiday decor is so pretty! I usually put out minimal things for Memorial Day, July 4th and Labor Day. My biggies are Thanksgiving and Christmas! 🙂 Hugs!
