Fearless Friday, Card Creations

Do you have piles of sketchbooks lying around?

I can’t seem to ever part with a sketch book and love to flip back through them to see the drawings, ideas, doodles and paintings they hold

Recently when I needed some thank you cards for friends I decided to create my own with drawings and paintings from my sketchbook

I did have some plain white envelopes and used them to make a template to make the card size

Depending on how large your paper is, you can make a folded card or a postcard type where the art is on the front and you can write your message on the back and put it in an envelope

The Lollipop Roses painting was large enough to make a folded card

5″ x 7″ white envelopes are a nice size and widely available, possibly even at your grocery store

I got the nicest comments from the card receivers, they felt extra special because I painted the card, and gave them something handmade and original

You can also buy sets of blank cards, Strathmore makes both Watercolor and Mixed Media paper card sets.  They are available on amazon here and here

You can also find blank cards for painting and drawing at your local art supply and craft stores

I do try to keep a selection of cards from my Society 6 Shop on hand too, for birthday cards, thank yous, any occasion…like a bowl of apples for the teacher perhaps?

Ombre Roses card

Sunflower Tea card

Apple Picking card

So have some fun and turn your doodles and drawings into cards to bring someone a little special joy!
