Take-out Tuesday, Better Than A Bakery Jammin’ Cream Cheese Danish

I call these “better than a bakery” because not only are they incredibly easy to make, they are not as cloyingly sweet as many sweet rolls and danishes

The base is, yep, my best friend,

crescent roll dough

If you have jam or jelly jars that look like this in your fridge, this is the perfect way to use them up!

I got this recipe from my sweet friend Kitty@kittyscozykitchen

She is always cooking delicious treats with her grands

I changed it up a bit by adding almond emulsion to the cream cheese filling and instead of topping the sweet rolls with icing I sprinkled them with powdered sugar and sliced almonds

You don’t even have to unroll the dough,

just slice it into rounds after removing the dough from the can

Place the slices on a parchment paper lined baking sheet

Make an indentation in the center of the dough,

the larger the better, for lots of filling

Divide cream cheese filling between pastry dough slices

Top with jam or jelly

If you are more careful than I was,

the jam won’t run all over the place…

😳

But, no worries, a little powdered sugar and a pretty plate will fix that!

I used Honey Roasted Almonds {Trader Joe’s}

You can also use plain almonds or make these easy and delicious

Buttery Almonds, Pecans or Walnuts

.

Sounds and looks delicious, and so easy! These would be great for a family breakfast. Wish I had one right now to enjoy with my coffee.

  2. Yum! Looks wonderful, and yes I do have jelly jars in the frig that look like that.

  3. Sandhya says:

Looks so yummy and so easy to make! Thanks for sharing.

  4. Jenna, I have a weakness for something sweet for breakfast. These look so yummy, I wish you offered delivery. Love the simplicity of this recipe. Happy Tuesday!

  5. Rita C. says:

I made jam-filled pinwheels a couple years ago, but your variation on the same theme looks outstanding!

  6. Nancy says:

Now how easy is this! And now I know how to use up all those jelly jars!

    Jenna… you amaze me!

  7. Charlotte Hall says:

Boy, these look good! I, too, love Kitty’s posts. Feel like she’s my neighbor as we both are in North Central Texas! Think I’ll make these for my birthday breakfast this week – I’ll be hitting the ‘ole 3/4 century mark. My how time flies when you’re having fun!

  8. Thanks for both recipes, Jenna. I bet you could do a riff on the rolls without the cream cheese, too. Might not be as good but still work. I love your nut recipe too. (Doesn’t TJ’s have the best nuts?!)

  9. lulu says:

I’d like to have one right now to go with first cup of coffee. Guess I’ll have to settle for toast and jam.

  10. Jodi says:

These are such a wonderful idea and no doubt DELISH! Crescent rolls are so amazing!!!

  11. Cyndi Raines says:

Well this looks very yummy and I love that it uses up the smidges of jelly! With the nuts even better! Thanks Jenna, Yum !

  12. Shelia says:

This sounds yummy and I have that same problem with jelly/jam jars that are not quite empty enough. I will definitely try these, Jenna. Great idea and delicious looking!

  13. Charlotte Hall says:

Just an afterthought…just take all those “leftover” jellies and stir them together. Don’t even have to melt them first. Put the combined jellies in a empty jelly jar with label, “Mystery Jelly,” “Science Project Jelly,” or not. Anyway, you’re on your own when anyone asks you to buy more of that at the store 😂

  14. Benita says:

Amazing recipe! These look fabulous! I’m glad you share recipes that are somewhat easy for those of us non-baker-types! Hugs!

Awwwww Jenna, you’re too sweet!! I love your changes and I think Cissy and I will making these soon. I always have homemade jam (hmmmm, I wonder if the fig preserves would be tasty??). I really want some of that almond emulsion. I’ll be looking for that. Those honey roasted almonds sound extra yummy! Thank you for the shout-out, my friend!

  18. Sounds like an easy breakfast treat:@)
