Party Panache, Tex-Mex Summer Spread

With Labor Day a mere 2 weeks away,

I want to share this idea of feeding your group in a fairly laborless way!

This a family friendly way to have dinner,

Easy on the chef/hostess and fun for the diners/guests

Set out a Tex-Mex Summer Spread!

It doesn’t have to be full of fancy food,

You can heat up prepared queso, serve ready made quacamole

Open a jar of salsa and a container of sour cream

Pour chips into a bowl

Let people dip and nosh as they please

They can build their own tacos, salads or burritos

I’ve started doing versions of this at the beach house for the days when guests arrive,

my family can arrive anywhere between 3-8pm

Having a “help yourself buffet” keeps appetites in check

There are plenty of handy bites at the ready

Set everything out on colorful plates and the simplest food becomes party festive!

Chips and salsa and a Skinny Cheese Enchilada Dip

or a Taco Tuesday Dip

A festive Watermelon Basket

Filled with cut up watermelon to cool the palette

Or make a fun Cactus decoration with a watermelon and flowers

Easy Roasted Corn Salad Cups are salad, vegetables and chips all in one tasty bite!

Saute up a batch of taco meat and serve it straight from the skillet or try something unexpected like piling it on a sliced french bread loaf for a Taco Bread Boat

or make Baked Tacos

Serve extra toppings on the side, corn, tomatoes,

onions, salsa, lettuce, sour cream

Everyone can make their own

Salsa Chicken with Roasted Vegetables is another wonderful option

How about a festive Fiesta Frito Pie?

Pulled pork is wonderful in a taco shell or tortilla wrap

A great additional choice for diners that aren’t huge Tex-Mex fans

Drizzle it with BBQ sauce or sweeten it with some fresh pineapple

Serve it for guests to assemble in shells or wraps,

Asian Peach BBQ Pork Wrap

Or make a tray of BBQ Pork & Corn Nachos

or make easy BBQ Pulled Pork Pastry Puffs,

great for a buffet

Crispy tortilla bowls make a wonderful addition to the buffet spread,

they can be filled with a little of everything on the buffet spread

for a delicious Taco Salad

And to wind up this Tex-Mex summer spread

whip up a Strawberry Cheesecake Pie

This type of spread is perfect for casual summer gatherings, neighborhood parties, family reunions, bring the kids family dinners, and you can do as much or as little cooking as you like…take some short cuts and enjoy the festivities!

Wow, you are such a creative hostess! And I have a hard time wrapping my head around the fact that labor day is just two weeks away. Yesterday I saw a report that it was the last Saturday of 2019 without college football!

  3. Cyndi Raines says:

Ole`! Wow, what a great spread and so very delicious also. Will remember your trick about flour tortillas made into taco shells spaced on the oven rack, how smart is that! Will pin for sure and thank you for this great post! Hard to believe summer is flying by! Love fall, but not ready to go there yet! Have a beautiful Sunday!

We usually do the whole grilling thing but this is a delicious alternative.

Jenna, everything looks yummy! I was just planning to do a taco bar for my family. It is so hot that heavy food just doesn’t sound too appealing. I figured a taco bar would be the perfect thing! Happy Sunday!
