I have been trying to make November slow down,
and enjoy every minute of this peaceful month
as we prepare for Thanksgiving and the holidays ahead
Thanksgiving is bittersweet to me
My youngest son was born on Thanksgiving,
and it was HH’s favorite holiday
I lost them both too early, but am thankful God shared them with me for a while…
Are you familiar with Godwinks?
I just recently learned that many uncanny coincidences can only be explained by a Godwink, an event or personal experience, so astonishing that it is seen as a sign of divine presence, especially when perceived as the answer to a prayer
I recently experienced a powerful Godwink
I go to Stretch Zone twice a week, a spa like place where you can be professionally stretched, which not only feels amazing, it helps your coordination, balance and general well being. Like a massage, you lay on a table, but are fully clothed. The professional stretcher works his/her magic for 30 minutes, and you leave feeling light and invigorated
During my first session with Beth, we discovered we had a lot in common…after chatting and finding out she went to the same high school as my children, she said “your last name sounds so familiar, what are your children’s names?” I said Ryan and Tara, and told her when they graduated…then I said, “you are much younger than they are, when did you graduate?”
And then she said, what about Kyle? My eyes got wide and I said “Oh! I don’t usually talk about Kyle unless it’s with someone who knew him…”
And she said, “I went to high school with Kyle, his girlfriend was my best friend!” We looked at each other, hugged, cried, and kept shaking our heads, thinking wow…what an incredible coincidence…
Later in the week the manager came over to me and said, “Jenna, Beth told me about the special connection you share, that is a Godwink you know…”
Godwinks have gotten me through some very difficult times
They are going right to the top of my Thankful list!
I will be sharing Thanksgiving with these wild Indians this year
It will be a little Non traditional Seaside Thanksgiving
And whether you are celebrating with a flock of family or friends
Or just one or two
Count your blessings and watch for Godwinks!

I read the book many years ago, I certainly believe that God has a plan for our lives and our life is not random. I love a “Godwink” knowing how they can bring comfort and peace. Thank you so much Pam, there is a movie coming out called Godwinks, it is amazing how once you learn to recognize them, they occur frequently in varying degrees… We will have fun at the beach, and I will be thinking of you and your family enjoying your beautiful table and food!
I’ve always believed in Godwinks, except I never knew the name till two or three years ago. I used to think of them as synchronicities (I think that’s Jungian) but I like the term Godwink much better. Your experience is so beautiful. It really touched me in a very powerful way. I can only imagine how it must have felt to be in this position of such relaxation and reinvigoration and then to realize that the connection you and Beth had was as personal as professional. Truly beautiful.
I send wonderful wishes in the coming week or two for a beautiful Thanksgiving and transition into the next round of festivities, too.
Thank you so much Jeanie, once I realized what a Godwink was, I realized that they often occur in varying degrees, and you just have to learn to recognize them. I hope you’ve figured out what you’re doing for Turkey day by now, I know you’ll make it special whoever and wherever you are!

Jenna, I’m definitely a believer in Godwinks, and the account of your recent one had me covered in goosebumps and teary. Thanksgiving is one of my favorite times too. I love everything about autumn. Living each day with a grateful heart is important to me and setting aside a special holiday on which to celebrate gratitude is very meaningful for me. I lost both my parents in the month of November on and near Thanksgiving Day. It’s a special reminder to be grateful for the years I had with my parents.
I’ll be thinking about you with a grateful heart for the friendship we share across the miles.
Oh, Sarah, I debated about sharing this story but as I began to write the narrative for this post it just came out! It really was a truly amazing experience and even a week later we both said we couldn’t believe it! Gratitude is the secret to happiness isn’t it. One of the best Godwinks involves Emmett Kelly, the clown for RB&B&Bailey Circus. If you read any books look for that one. It is a fascinating, touching phenomenon..
