Take-out Tuesday, the BEST 4 Ingredient Dinner Ever!

HHjr and I sort of tag team dinners during the week
Even though he loves to cook, between his work schedule and the boys afternoon activities,
I often shop and/or cook to help him out because he cooks so many things for me
“Do you want me to throw something in the slow cooker
or make a casserole for tomorrow night?” I asked him,
“Something the boys could dive into since their practice runs so late?”
“I saved this, recipe, thinking they would like it,” he said
Hamburger Casserole from Baking with Mom
When I read the ingredients I was dubious at best
Tomato soup, pasta, hamburger and cheese??
“What if I make it with sausage instead since we just had hamburgers?”
And just like that, a wonderful casserole was born!!
One bite and I was a believer!
After the sausage browns, add the Tomato soup and a little water
Next put the pasta into the casserole dish
Top with the tomato sausage sauce
And cheese!
Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake
The leftovers are great too!
This recipe will get you through the busy days ahead and keep everybody happy!

The BEST 4 Ingredient Dinner Ever
Ingredients
- 3 packages 8.5 oz, Ready Pasta {or 16 oz. pasta of choice, cooked al dente}
- 2 cans 10.75 oz, Tomato Soup {Campbells condensed}
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 cup grated Mozzarella Cheese {I used Kraft Creamy Melt Mozzarella with Philadelphia cream cheese}
- 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese {I used Sargento Off the Block 4 State Cheddar}
- 1/3 cup water
Instructions
- Brown sausage in skillet.
- While sausage is browning cook pasta according to package directions. Ready Pasta only takes minutes in the microwave.
- When sausage has browned, drain and return to skillet. Stir in soup and water.
- Place pasta in prepared dish and pour sauce over it. Stir to coat with sauce.
- Stir in 1/2 of each cheese. Transfer to a large greased baking dish and top with remaining cheese. Cover with casserole lid or non stick foil. Can be refrigerated at this point for baking later.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake covered for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 minutes more until hot and melty. If dish is cold, baking time may be longer.
This no sweat dinner is the perfect solution for December busy days
Enjoy!

Looks super delish and easy! And I almost always have all those ingredients in the house!
I love to toss an easy casserole together early in the day so all I have to do later is pop it in the oven…and the Ready Pasta makes this soooo easy!
This sure looks like it would be a crowd pleaser!
Not exactly gourmet fare, but wonderfully easy and kid friendly!
Jenna, my family would love this! Casseroles are always a great treat especially if they are easy. You and HHjr are both amazing in the kitchen! Happy Tuesday!
Thanks Pam, you can even use less pasta and more meat if you want to make it less carbs. I was skeptical about the tomato soup but it was wonderful! Great for long busy days and tired cooks 🙂
Jenna, I’m going to put this into my recipe file. I know my family would love this! Thanks for sharing! Happy Tuesday!!!
I couldn’t believe how easy and good this was! We will be having it often! Thanks Shannon!
Yum! Sounds like a must try for sure. Thanks, Jenna!
Thanks Patty Anne, I was not sure about the tomato soup but I loved it!
Sweet Man’s mom would make something very similar but added green peppers. So now I make it for him. They call it Cobbletti. It’s delicious… but I think I want to,try sausage next time.
Cobbletti is such a cute name!!
Wonderful comfort food for a wintery night, YUM! Love all the cheese! Pinning! ♥️ Thanks Jenna.
Yes, basically a sausage mac and cheese! Thanks Cyndi!
Yum! I like your idea of sausage instead of the hamburger. 😍 My mom made something similar in a skillet. We loved it as kids. ❤️
I couldn’t believe how something this simple could be so good, we all loved it!
This will be perfect for when I invite my uncle over to dinner. Love the idea of putting it together early in the day and just pop it in the oven. Guess I live under a rock as I have never heard of Ready Pasta. Will serve this with Joe’s famous garlic bread 🙂
Thanks Debbie, the Ready Pasta is awesome, makes putting this together a breeze!
YUM! This would hit the spot for my bunch. Or just for me and Marty. Love the easy dishes. Hugs and blessings, Cindy
Easy simple food, great for any age appetite!
This sounds wonderful, Jenna! I make a hamburger pie that has tomato soup in it, and it is so goo, too. I’ll be trying this for sure!
I was really surprised by how much we liked this simple dish!
