Creations, Mardi Gras Mesh Wreath

I love Valentines Day and all the fun Valentine decor,

but in the deep South February also means Mardi Gras!

This year Fat Tuesday,

the height of Mardi Gras celebrating,

falls on February 25 a mere 10 days after Valentines Day…

Time to hurry up and decorate!

I decided to make a wreath for my front door

that could withstand the rainy weather we’ve been having

I found just what I needed at Hobby Lobby

{all Spring is 40% off right now!!}

I found a sturdy wire wreath wrapped in grapevine~

Perfect for tucking in the mesh ribbon

A pencil or pen is perfect for pushing the mesh ribbon down into the wreath form

Wrap the wreath with mesh ribbon, over and under,

Tucking and making poofs by pushing the mesh ribbon into the wreath form

Secure ends with more tucks and then add the next color,

wrapping purple mesh over and under and tucking to secure

I wrapped the wreath with green in the same fashion and

had just enough of a gold, green and purple ribbon in my supply box to make a bow

I added a couple of bead necklaces with wire

Then I attached the bow onto the finished wreath with wire

and made a wire loop to hang it on the door

Easy, festive, and waterproof!

Stop by tomorrow for some more Mardi Gras fun!

  1. Wreath is super cute! I haven’t made a mesh wreath in a while. Just preciously whipped up three small wreaths but simple. So cute! Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  2. Jenna, the wreath is perfect for Mardi Gras! I need to make a mesh wreath soon and looks like I need to pay a visit to Hobby Lobby. Happy Wednesday!

  3. Rhonda says:

Jenna, Love the wreath. I will have to check to see if my Hob Lob has the wreath form. I can see all kinds of possibilities here.

Just an update—Miss Ellie and I are doing fine! She is a great companion and holds all my court paraphernalia. Soooo much prettier than a traditional brief case. Lol!! Thanks again!!

    • I am delighted to hear from you Rhonda! We all {the Tote group} were so happy that you, the winner was so appreciative of the tote, and joined our tradition of naming her! I shared your photo with them, and would love to mention you in my March 1 post and share the photo if you don’t mind! You are an honorary member of the TTTs! I hope you’re not washing away over there, terrible flooding in Jackson…Thank you for visiting and commenting!

  4. I love the door wreath! I have a rather embarrassingly large collection of Mardi Gras beads that would look lovely on one of these!

  5. Mardi Gras must be a big deal in the south. You never see people do anything with it here but you all have so much fun!

    • It’s not really celebrated in Birmingham, mostly on the Gulf Coast and Mobile…I miss being on the coast for the parties and parades, but it’s been so rainy this year I haven’t wanted to go South.

This wreath turned out so pretty Jenna. I wish I had thought of picking up supplies to make one for my door. Your wreath certainly dresses up the door and entrance into your table setting with a Mardi Gras theme. Love Mardi Gras colors.

  7. A colorful welcome:@)

  8. Cyndi Raines says:

We in the north don’t seem to celebrate it that much, but happy for you all down south. Your new wreath is very colorful and festive! Let the good times roll, right? 😁
