I love having fresh flowers in and around my home
At the beach house we have beautiful hibiscus and begonias
But nothing to cut for arrangements…
When HHjr brought home an array of beautiful produce,
I thought, well, I can’t make a flower arrangement but I can make a vegetable one!
A “Vegetablescape!”
I used a large Strawberry Season serving tray as the base
and put a glass cake stand on the tray and added a smaller white bowl
Large romaine lettuce leaves were added next,
Then an artichoke, oranges and a tomato
A red pepper, limes and more oranges at the base of the cake stand
The arrangement was filled out with celery sticks,
snow peas, strawberries, Brussels sprouts
and a zucchini
Looks good enough to eat!
This arrangement obviously can’t be left out for too long,
But for longevity, you could hide ice or cold packs in your arrangement
After enjoying this for a little while,
I put most of the produce in the refrigerator
and gradually turned this kitchen island back to reality
An island buffet works so well for our family
Snacks in jars with small plastic bowls
are handy for hungry fingers to grab
With a box of fresh donuts and a bowl of fruit
The boys were pretty excited when they saw the fresh donuts,
first time in 2 months!
Plates and flatware are at the ready for fixing lunch and serving dinner
My alstromeria are still going strong after 2 weeks
So, eat your veggies,
and play with them too!!!
