Fearless Friday, Pink & White Anemone

Happy July and

Happy World Watercolor Month!

Let’s paint a pretty pink and white Anemone today

My inspiration photos come from Unsplash, Pixabay or Google search

I started with a light pencil sketch

to define the location of the petals, stems and buds

I filled in a few details of the center

Since this flower is mostly white,

I painted the background a deep green to showcase the white petals

Next I added the darkest pinks with Quinacridone Pink and Coral

Then I established the center with Leaf green and Cad Yellow

Next a few light Lemon Yellow washes were added

and the center was darkened and detailed with Quinacridone Gold

and a mix of Hooker’s Green and Permanent Green Light

Next I added shadows with different tones of Payne’s Gray

I exaggerated the colors on purpose to add drama

To finish I added some final washes

and darkened the background with larger shapes to indicate distant foliage

Happy Painting!

Be Fearless!

Thanks for the lesson. Maybe now that I know it is watercolour month I should get going on how to do it. So far I’ve used watercolour pencils to illustrate maps in my RV Adventure Journal. I did buy some paint and paper to try other things, but haven’t gotten started. – Margy http://margylutz.blogspot.com/2019/11/snowbird-rv-adventure-our-run-for-border.html
