Tablescapes, Slowly Slipping into Fall

Today I am joining a group of tablescape enthusiasts to Welcome Fall!

A big thank you to Chloe of Celebrate & Decorate

for organizing our amazing hops!

Fall is always slow to arrive in the Deep South where I live,

so we tend to start slow…

I started by drying some beautiful Summer Roses

The bright pink and yellow roses faded

into beautiful shades of gold and dark pink,

wonderful early fall colors!

I paired them with white pumpkins and black and white

to Slowly Slip into Fall

This table is set for “safe distance dining”

with two places together at each end of the table

Gold chargers, white plates and a small compote for an amuse bouche

or perhaps a small after dinner mint or chocolate

Black placemats with vintage roses,

a black napkin tied with a ribbon of gold leaves,

gold coasters,

assorted black handled and gold trimmed flatware,

and leopard wine glasses complete the place settings

The centerpiece is a long and low box

filled with dried roses and white faux pumpkins

with a ribbon of gold leaves winding through

To balance out the table,

directly across from a side place setting is a MacKenzie-Childs cake stand

holding a white decorative pumpkin

More roses adorn the funky pumpkin

Next to the cake stand is a small, deep pink compote

holding another white pumpkin and more rose buds

Black and white candlesticks with gold candles

and scattered rose petals are on each side of the centerpiece box

on the table runner

A MacKenzie-Childs Courtly Check tiered tray

holds more dried roses and raffia

This balances the other end of the table

I am going to enjoy the table runner until October

Then it will be time to start thinking about Halloween fun!

  1. Good morning, Jenna. Your table is so elegant dressed in black and gold. The dried roses turned to beautiful soft shades that enhance the beauty of your table. The ribbon of gold leaves that tie your black napkins looks so pretty against your white plates along with the gold compote. Your Courtly Check MC collections are the perfect addition to your table. The table runner transitions wonderfully for the season. Happy Tuesday!

Jenna, your MacKenzie-Childs tablescape is just charming! I especially love the centerpiece! Blessings, Cecilia @My Thrift Store Addiction

  4. Julie says:

You decorated such a pretty fall themed table Jenna. I like the color scheme with the white pumpkins, and the dried roses. The table looks elegant for fall. Great job Jenna.

  5. I love a table setting that doesn’t scream fall till late September. This works — it has the fallish elements but not the brights, the oranges. It’s really beautiful, Jenna.

  6. Jenna, I love how you included the MC dishes into your fall table. The natural elements look lovely. I adore your dried roses. How fun that you painted the tall candle sticks. Whimsical and fun. The table runner is wonderful and I look forward to seeing more tables created with it.

    • Thank you Linda! We love our black and white don’t we!! I use that black runner all the time, it’s so versatile…I enjoy our hops so much and seeing everyone’s different interpretations of the seasons and themes!

  7. Chloe Crabtree says:

Jenna, Isn’t it sad that we even have to think about “socially distant” dining? Of course you have done a stellar job at setting a table that accomplishes that along with being pretty and welcoming! I love all of the MacKenzie Child’s plaid accents along with those pretty dried blooms. Sending the message that the blooming gardens will be behind us soon. (Well, not here in Florida, but my summer pots have spent themselves and are ready for a change!

    • Thank you Chloe, my son and his boys brought me those roses one day and I couldn’t bear throwing them away when they started to fade…they couldn’t believe how pretty they are dried and I just love that I can still enjoy them!

  8. CoziNest says:

Helllllooooo Jenna! Long time no see. I’ve always admired your McKenzie Childs pieces and this table is another reason to love them. Such a fun and cheery table. My first thought when I saw the cake stand was, “Oh, she has a pumpkin pumpkin!” A pumpkin made of pumpkins is just too cute! Hope you are doing well.

    • hi Kim! I do love my MKC pieces and all things black and white! I got that pumpkin pumpkin at Piggly Wiggly!! The one in Mountain Brook/Liberty Park has THE greatest gift shop and seasonal decor! Great to have you joining us today!

  9. Kitty says:

Your table looks so pretty, Jenna, and yes, that table runner can take you right into Halloween! I loved seeing all your MKC touches at your table.

  10. Bonnie Morgan says:

Jenna, You social distancing table is perfect for our times. We were invited to dine alfresco with a table set just like yours and it worked so well. Your dried roses dried wonderful fall tones.
I am amazed at your creativity at this table. Your box centerpiece, your unique table runner, MKC pieces and lovely check patterns with great candles and candlesticks all had me reading and scrolling back and forth numerous times to take it all in.
    So enjoyable, Jenna.

    • Thank you so much Bonnie! When I first started setting this table is was so sad looking with the places so far apart, but once I added the decorative pieces it felt much better and not so lonely 🙂 Yes, I’ve had several alfresco dinners with friends too, and it’s so nice…looking forward to cooler temps and enjoying more outdoor gatherings!

  11. Shannon@Belle Bleu Interiors says:

Jenna, I always admire all of your pretty MC pieces. They look perfect in any season. The dried roses are beautiful combined with the white pumpkins. Your centerpiece is gorgeous, and it looks so pretty. I can see enjoying this vignette for most of the fall season. I am swooning over those gorgeous rose placemats. They compliment your centerpiece perfectly! Happy Tuesday, sweet friend!

    • Thanks so much Shannon, I really enjoyed creating something totally different for fall this year…I guess because life is totally different lately 😂 I’m so glad I get to continue to enjoy the roses!

  12. Jenna, what a darling tablescape. I love the centerpiece. I am a fan of boxes and baskets and that box is perfect! You always amaze me at what you come up with girl. So very pretty. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  13. How beautiful! I love that you decorated with black. It really makes a pretty statement for fall! Also, I love what you did with the centerpiece…wait until you see how much the box looks like mine! Great minds think alike! Great hopping with you always!
    Shelley

    • Ha, I know, our boxes are so similar, I think I got inspired by yours when I saw it in another recent post! I had no idea what I was going to do for this hop, so I ordered the pumpkins and ribbon, dried the roses, and all of a sudden it just came together…yes, we had a great hop today!

  14. Rita C. says:

Jenna, tres chic! I like the gold with the Courtly Check, which just goes to show the versatility in taking it from summer with brighter yellows to this slow slip into fall. Very nice. That fluted cake pedestal and tiered tray are to die for. Both pieces are very special. That pumpkin on the pedestal intrigues me in its 3D design! Love the black floral placemats and your runner – perfect for the transition – and the leopard stems – perfect ANYtime! And I’m in love with that screen divider in the corner and your wall paint – great dramatic appeal!

    • Thanks so much Rita, as you can see, I’m a huge fan of black and white 🙂 That pumpkin made with little pumpkins jumped into my cart at Piggly Wiggly the other day, the one I go to has THE best gift and flower dept!

  15. Barbara at Mantel and Table says:

I love how you social distanced this beautiful setting Jenna – what a smart way to do it! Everything’s so pretty, and honestly, I totally love that beautiful finish on your table! 🙂 Thanks for all the fun details, and the great ideas!

  16. Sandra Garth says:

Hey Jenna, this is beautiful! Love, love, love the low centerpiece and I am determined to find or make one of those boxes. When my eyes fell to the runner I immediately wondered how it could be used for Halloween. I’m sure you’ll show us how it’s done when the time is right. Unfortunately, social distancing has become a way of life for now, but thanks for sharing how to do it style.

    • Thank you Sandra! I have actually had the black runner for a long time, it is a very versatile piece, and of course perfect for Halloween 🎃 ! Bring on the pumpkins! I got the box at Hobby Lobby last year, very inexpensive~

  17. thefrenchhutch says:

Jenna, I think you have a great way for socially distancing dining with two place settings at each end of the table. I love to dry my roses and they usually end up as potpourri. Your gorgeous MacKenzie-Childs cake stand and three tiered stand adds a lovely balancing act for your table. The runner and centerpiece box are perfect for the fall nod. I love the pop of orange too. So many lovely details. Hard to believe it’s fall as hot as it’s been. Missing our visits…………

    • Thanks so much Emily, I really wanted to do something different for fall this year, and loved using my MKC pieces in a new way. Yes, bring on the cooler temps and it’s only 2 1/2 weeks until football!!

  18. I love your black and white fall decor. I never thought of doing that but it works. Glad yoou are part of the hop.

  19. Marsha says:

Ooo..la…la.., Jenna, now that is the way to welcome in the Fall season. I really get a hint of Art Deco in your tablescape, perhaps because of the lovely table runner. I love the contrast of the soft roses and white pumpkins to the bold black and white print of McKenzie Child’s pieces. It is romance in the cozy autumn setting. So stunning.

  20. Ann Krucek says:

Jenna, your slipping into fall is done so elegantly! I never would have thought to use dried roses with black and white, but the way you have styled everything, it all comes together with a gorgeous flair. I love that table runner, It caught my eye right away, You are right on point with the social distancing setting, hopefully we will not have to continue that through next year, I am missing a good hug now and then!! Have a wonderful fall, always a pleasure to hope with you!!!🌻🍂🍁

    • Thanks so much Ann! When I first set the places so far apart I wanted to cry! But then as I started filling in the spaces, it didn’t seem so awful to sit that far apart with pretty things to look at 🙂 Yes, bring back the hugs!

  21. Maureen says:

Jenna, brilliant way to set the table during these crazy times where social distancing is so important! You have really done well to balance the decor without anything looking out of place. I love the McKenzie Child accents. They pair so well with your pretty table runner! The muted colors of the dried roses really speak to the cozy tones of autumn. A pleasure to be joining you for the blog hop this week!

  22. Thank you so much Maureen! Since our lives are so upside down right now, I felt like doing something different and unexpected for fall decor, and actually love the way it turned out! I enjoy our hops so much, so many creative and diverse ideas!!

  23. Ricki Treleaven says:
