Recipe Box, Thanksgiving on a small scale
I have heard from so many people
that they are having small Thanksgiving celebrations this year…
or perhaps no celebration at all,
just a normal dinner with their spouse or immediate family,
or perhaps with a friend or little Indian…
Well that hurts my holiday loving heart!
So I rounded up some of my favorite recipes
that will make it feel like Thanksgiving, even if it’s just for 2
Start off with a festive plate of nibbles,
a cheese straw pumpkin, turkey or pilgrim hat…
Wrap your stuffing with bacon and give it a sweet orange glaze
Orange Glazed Bacon Wrapped Stuffing Balls
No need to make a big sweet potato casserole,
these twice baked sweet potatoes have all the flavors
Here’s another unique way of serving stuffing…in a muffin!
Apple, Pecan and Pomegranate Stuffing Muffins
Wrap Brussels in bacon and cover with a sweet cranberry glaze
Bacon Wrapped Brussels Sprouts with Cranberry Orange Glaze
Make a casserole with all the flavors of Thanksgiving,
chicken or turkey, stuffing, and vegetables
Buy a small sliced ham and cook in in your slow cooker
with a little bourbon and maple syrup
Cranberry Chicken can be prepped in 5 minutes
and you’ll never miss the turkey!
Green Bean Casserole?
No problem, mix it with chicken
and top it with a flaky pastry for an irresistible pot pie!

Let flavorful chicken thighs fill in for the turkey
Bake them in a luscious mustard maple sauce
and top them with pecans before serving

to combine many favorites all in one dish

Our little pilgrims are much too big to sit at this sweet little table now,
and 2 of our pilgrims will be elsewhere this Thanksgiving…
But even though are numbers are smaller, we will still celebrate!

I’ve decided it’s ham for this house. The trial run I made of chicken and stuffing did NOT appeal to me afterall. I tried to eat some of the leftovers……yuk. You’ve got some great sides there.

A wonderful round-up of Thanksgiving recipes! Those darling grands can no longer sit at the little table, they grow up too fast. Our number just shrunk to 7 instead of 14, it makes me sad, but we will still have our grand feast. Happy Wednesday, Jenna!

Jenna, all of these dishes look delicious! Seeing the kid’s table brings back so many wonderful memories. It is a little heartbreaking that many of our normal celebrations will be a little smaller this year. In my heart I still know we all have so much to be thankful for, and I pray that this will all be behind us soon. May you have a most blessed holiday season, dear friend!

Lovely recipes, thank you for sharing. I’m afraid it going to be just my husband and myself this year with a Zoom visit in the afternoon with our kids and grandkids. There’s always next year!

Thank you Emily, trying times, it is stressful not being able to plan and do normal holiday things even though we do have so much to be grateful for…at least there will be football! {Hopefully!!!}
These are some really delicious sounding recipes! We often have Thanksgiving at home with just us and while it is a bit of work to cook the whole meal we do enjoy it so much.
I know a lot of people cook a big meal just for the leftovers! My family doesn’t really love turkey or leftovers 😂 my son is liable to BBQ something! I hope you have a wonderful thanksgiving!
These sound really good. Hubby and I will probably end up at my sister’s, but I will still makeup some of our favorite dishes to have throughout the weekend. You have to have great leftovers to eat while putting up the Christmas decorations, right?, hehe. So much to be thankful for in spite of COVID!

I think I would love any single one of these. I love the idea of wrapping bacon around stuffing! Pretty decadent but hey, that’s Thanksgiving. We will indeed be small — just us. Who knows? Some of these might appear on my table!

Thank you for such lovely sounding recipes for Thanksgiving. We will have a houseful and celebrate all day and into the evening! Half of the family descends from the original pilgrims and half have the indians in their background…so we always celebrate Thanksgiving! Hope you and yours have a great one!
