Fearless Friday, January Journal Page

Happy New Year!

Have you set new goals for 2021?

How about including more art~

Daily drawing is such a skill builder

and keeping a journal is a great way to do it!

Today I’m going to show you a method I like to use for journaling

I begin by first looking at fonts

{I have a Pinterest board I refer to here}

and then sketch out the month or words I want to use in pencil

and then go over it with a waterproof fine liner

Then start adding drawings of things that represent the month

or theme of the journal page,

anything that catches your eye as you browse magazines, Pinterest or Google images

A snowflake, some tall evergreen trees…

Pencil it in first and when you’re satisfied with it,

go over the pencil with ink and then erase the pencil

Next, I added a fireworks display, the year 2021, and “let’s start Over”

How about a skiing penguin

and a snowman joyfully looking up

at the snowflakes and stars in the sky

After inking the snowman, I decided that was all I wanted to add

If you would like to color this yourself

you can download the printable here

When I add color,

I start with the parts I’ve already decided what colors they should be

Then, I add colors as I go, choosing the colors as the image comes to life
