Home Decor, Beach Time, Chair Repair and Awesome Amaryllis

I got to spend almost 2 weeks at the beach house after Christmas,

and it was such a wonderful renewal…

nothing broke, there were no crises, worries were left behind…

We had some lovely sunny and warm weather

Everyone loved the new boat

HHjr kept it tied up to what was left of the pier…

We do have a contract for the pier rebuild,

there’s no hurry because the repairs on our big boat

won’t be finished until June at the earliest…

This smaller boat can be kept on a trailer in the driveway until then…

We’re hoping everything will be back to normal by mid summer

The boys had much fun digging a giant hole in the sand

I finally got around to a project I had on my to do list since summer~

Our woven chairs were still in great shape

except the color had worn off in places… yikes!

Nothing that can’t be fixed with a little paint!

I used 3 colors of browns

because there were lots of shades of browns originally…

Much better!

One day I glanced out the kitchen window

and saw a man and a truck full of ladders in the driveway

“Hello, can I help you?” I asked

Oh, hi there! Just call me Santa Claus,” he said…

“I’m here to check on your roof, we plan on redoing it Friday”

“OH!! You are Santa Claus!!” I exclaimed

I was incredibly excited to see him

because during a severe rain storm New Year’s Eve,

the roof started leaking in the corner of the living room!

We packed up and left early Friday morning,

and good thing we did, there were workers, tarps, and trucks all over the place!

It was fun to watch the action from our Ring cameras…

I was so happy to see the tarp covering the pool

But like magic,

by the end of the day

the roof was finished and everything was cleaned up!

Before we left for the beach, I had 3 amaryllis that were just about to bloom

I really wanted to bring them with me, but that would have been a lot of trouble…

I did a little research* and learned that if I gave them a source for ample water,

they just might last until I came back…

Look what I came home too!

The beautiful holly was a gift from my sweet friend CCOG

I used it to help prop up the leaning blooms 😂

The pale pink one is really huge!

It’s almost 3 feet tall!

So Hurricane Sally is in the rearview mirror,

we are so lucky to have a new roof, a new boat, and a new year!

Things are definitely looking up in 2021!

Juicy Details

I bought the amaryllis plants early in December at Trader Joe’s for $8.99 each, such a great price, so be sure to check for them next year

*I set the pots in larger flower pots that I filled with water so the plants could slowly absorb water while I was gone…not sure this is an approved method, but it sure worked for me!

When I touched up the woven chairs, I put the three colors of brown, golden brown, medium brown, and a dark brown, on a palette and dabbed my brush in each color. As I brushed on the paint, the colors mixed as they were applied, causing natural shading and gradual tones.
