Tablescapes, Fat Tuesday

Happy Valentine’s Day! 💕

And Mardi Gras is only two days away! 🎭

We are celebrating a Valentine birthday on the Gulf coast today

but we’ll be back in the city to celebrate Fat Tuesday!

The table is set for a special dinner

I think we’ll have Easy Slow Cooker Jambalaya

it’s always a winner!

A Mardi Gras jester and beads of gold, purple, and green

spill over onto the table set for dining and fine cuisine

Fat Tuesday tradition means rich foods, festive drinks,

and dressing in masks

What does it all mean, you might be tempted to ask?

Decorated floats parade down the streets

revelers throw beads, Moon Pies and other Mardi Gras treats

But this year the parades have been cancelled

and we’ll celebrate at home …

where we’ll be safe from the dangers of crowds and unknowns

A wreath of colorful ribbons nestles a bowl of sparkling decor

There are masks and crowns, and decorations galore!

So this year there won’t be crowds on Bourbon Street

But you can still have fun at home I think!

Laissez les bons temps rouler!!

Here’s a couple more easy dishes to make your day festive:

Drizzle plain or Almond Crescent Rolls with colored icing and green, gold, and purple sprinkles

Make a festive Mardi Gras Gratin full of sausage, ham, asparagus and pasta, it’s full of the colors of Mardi Gras

Holiday Cookie Bars are made with a cake mix and the golden bars are covered with purple and green sprinkles

Enjoy!

This is a fun post! I love to decorate for Mardi Gras, but not this year. It’s too depressing with everything canceled. I’m so happy our niece was able to make her debut in New Orleans before all the pandemic madness. Stay warm this week. BRRRRRR!!!!
