Home Decor, Ode to the Chef

My kitchen is really my son’s domain…

By day he’s a residential contractor,

but nights and weekends he is all about cooking

My art studio is in an space just off the kitchen

and the top of my desk is a favorite spot for a seasonal or themed display

I recently created a kitchen themed tiered tray with chickens

vegetables, pigs, plates, and a chef

While filling the tray and arranging the vignette,

I decided to create an “Ode to the Chef” with a special Chef’s buffet

I got out a black and white checked runner

and proceeded to top it with all kinds of “chefy” and kitchen things

Chef MacPig anchors one end

with a chef beer glass and a painted tomato canister

There’s a Courtly Check butter keeper and compote filled with fruit,

a ribbon tied pail holding a cabbage and a set of measuring scoops

The tiered tray is in the center of this Chef’s Buffet

Piggies, veggies and chicks all on display

A chef with checked pants hangs from a nail

It’s part of the chick’s foot that’s on the top pail

A pig holds napkins handy just to the right

and there’s a stack of small plates when you’re ready for a bite

A chef is delivering dinner atop the radish plate,

the pasta looks so good, I can hardly wait!

And another chef is guarding prized cookbooks

Can a kitchen have too many cooks?

What would we ever do without great chefs…

of one thing I’m certain, I am truly blessed!

Super cute! But i bet your chef came home and said, ‘ok, mom, now let’s clear the deck so I can cook!’

    • Thanks Linda, I didn’t realize I had so many chef things until I started putting this together, I can’t wait to set up another buffet with this theme when I can have guests over!

  9. This is just darling, Jenna! So much cute I don’t know where to look or which I love the most but it might have to do with that chef’s books piece! I think HH Jr. must be a Renaissance man — how wonderful for you and his family too!
