Tablescapes, a Trip to the South Pacific

I thought we’d take a little trip today,

how about joining me in the South Pacific?

The inspiration for this table and bar was the Broadway show,

South Pacific

This post was originally part of a tablescape hop 4 years ago

To celebrate New York’s reopening

and the beginning of Summer

I thought it would be fun to share it again

Our beach house is built on stilts

and we have a large downstairs area under the house and deck

We have a dining area with a picnic table

It’s nice and shady and cool,

with a beautiful view of the water

I am lucky enough to spend a lot of time

at our little island paradise in the South,

a small private residential island on the Alabama Gulf Coast

Behind the picnic table is a bar

that separates the dining area from the garage

Plenty of white sugar sand, sunshine, and sea blue views

A time weathered table on a rug mimicking the ocean waves

Hibiscus, pineapples, mangos, palms and flip flops!

This sets the stage for Some Enchanted Evening*

Or a spot for a lot of Happy Talk*

Do you have your ticket yet?

This will get you dinner and a show!

Are you In Love with a Wonderful Guy or Gal*?

Well, if it doesn’t work out

you can Wash that Man/Girl Right Outa your Hair*

at the outdoor shower behind the bar

You’ve Got to be Carefully Taught*

that Bloody Mary will fix you up

with a dangerous drink at her Bali Ha’i bar

It will make you feel Younger Than Springtime*

And indulge in too much of her

Rum Pineapple Volcano Cake!

There is Nothing Like a Dame!*

   Aloha!

Jenna, I always love seeing your beach retreat. You are so blessed to have such a beautiful vacation home on Alabama’s gorgeous coast. Your table is perfect! South Pacific is one of my most favorite musicals! When I was in High School, I tried out for the part of Nellie and got the role. I know every line and song by heart. Your photos and narration brought back wonderful memories. Have a wonderful day!!!

    • Oh Shannon, how much fun to have a part in this wonderful musical! Always been a favorite of mine and I had so much fun recreating it. Yes, our coastal home is a blessing for my family, we bought it when my children were babies, and it has been so wonderful to watch them love it as much as we did, and now my grands all love it too, they are always asking, “when can we go to the beach house?” So sweet!

  7. Martha says:

So perfect! I want to be sitting right there with you!

Oh my goodness, Jenna, what a cute and creative post! I love South Pacific! 😀
Is your bar and outdoor shower new? I love it! What a great space to enjoy your view of the water.

    • Thanks Ricki Jill, it’s probably my favorite Broadway show. The bar and shower aren’t new, I just rarely post photos of this area. The bar is more of a grilling station, it holds a Big Green Egg.

  10. I remember this from the Broadway Tablescape blog hop. I did Mary Poppins. This is such a fun table and I am ready for some travel. Thanks for taking me to the South Pacific, Jenna!

  11. That’s so colorful and looks like such fun! Very happy and cheerful and oh, so exotic!

  12. Nancy says:

  14. I would love to go to the South Pacific. In fact, you have transported me there with your tropical tablescape, tiki bar and delicious food. The rum pineapple cake looks fabulous.. Looks like paradise to me. Enjoy Jenna.

    • You have your own South Pacific right in your backyard with an amazing pool, pool house, outdoor shower and Palapa! I wish we could have something like your Palapa, but due to hurricanes, we are limited to what we build on the Gulf coast.

  15. Allyson says:

I enjoyed my brief tour of the “South Pacific.” It’s always nice seeing your pretty tablescapes and peaceful scenery.
