Fearless Friday, Maple Syrup

Fun with maple syrup today!

I found a photo in iStock to use as my model

I sketched the pancakes and syrup with pencil

Then inked over it with a waterproof micron .01 fine liner pen
and added some shapes where I wanted highlights

I started with coloring the butter pat and highlights
with shades of yellow markers
then added the darkest parts of the syrup
flowing over the bottle’s edge
and around the bottle’s neck

Next I added some midtones to the syrup

More darks

Blueberries were colored with 3 shades of blue

The arrow points to the area inside the binder rings
I use to test marker colors

I colored the pancakes and it was all done
“Maple Syrup” 7″ x 10″ marker on dry media paper

Food is a lot of fun to draw and color
Here is a BLT sandwich in watercolor
I did for the Doodlewash November 7 prompt “crisp”
