Tales of the Traveling Tote, Winter Days

Happy March!

Time for Tales of the Traveling Tote,

our quarterly stories of our recent adventures

with our favorite MacKenzie-Childs tote bags

This feels frivolous with what’s going on in the world

but I have learned that it is important

to retain a sense of normalcy in times of crisis

and I pray that peace will come…

I am happy that winter is in the rear view mirror

and Spring is on the horizon…daffodils are starting to bloom!

Miss Coquille and I met Emily and Miss Courtney Childs

for a celebratory birthday lunch in early December

Emily’s birthday is the 7th and mine is the 11th…

The restaurant {Seasons 52} greeted us with a birthday card

and a complimentary glass of champagne 🍾🥂

Our family Christmas was fun filled

Then we headed to the beach house for the week before New Years

The weather was warm and amazing!

Back to the city after New Years…

I hibernated most of January, it was very cold and wet

I kept my spirits up with a little Winter Sparkle

After Valentine’s Day we headed to the beach house again

for the long President’s Day weekend

No swimming this time as our pool sprung a major leak!

A new liner has been ordered and fingers crossed

we will be back to pretty blue water soon

Mardi Gras fun was in full swing on the coast!

We happened on a boat parade of pirates

They showered the kids with beads and trinkets

And then it was back to the city and Happy Fat Tuesday!

So Happy March, 🥂 and here’s to Spring,

warmer weather, and the flowers it will bring!

The first sighting of yellow springing from the earth makes my heart sing.

Happy Mardi Gras Jenna, I always love a boat parade! How fun for you and Emily to be close enough to share birthdays and celebrate together. We had a colder than normal January and are two weeks behind where we usually are ‘in the bloom’. We warming up this week which will help speed things up with temps reaching almost 80 by the weekend. Hope your pool and liner are repaired quickly. Happy March! ♥

P.S. I have spotty Wi-Fi this morning and lost my first comment but it may show up, please delete if it duplicates.

Wow, December seems to be so long ago, but I’m happy you & Emily could get together to celebrate. I know Ricki Jill would’ve liked to also but was already preoccupied with appts then. I have seen but one or two daffs blooming here, but that’s one or two more signs of spring arriving. I’ll take it! Your kids are a handsome crew, Jenna. I can imagine the festivities throughout the deep South on this Fat Tuesday. Happy March, fellow tote traveler!

  4. Good morning, Jenna. I know you are loving our warmer temps and sunshine this week. How nice to join Emily to celebrate your December birthdays. The grands are growing and are handsome and beautiful. I hope the pool is up and ready to go by spring break. Prayers for Ricki Jill 🙏🏻

    • Thank you Pam, yes I’m loving this Spring weather. Ricki Jill is bravely fighting her cancer with such a positive attitude, I hope you will keep her in your prayers.

  5. WOW, I wish winter was behind us, but we have another month of it – it was refreshing to see daffodils and cant wait for ours to bloom! You are so lucky to have such a lovely Beach house to escape to – I love seeing your pics and hope your pool is ready for swimming soon. Today must be a fun time celebrating in the south!

    • Thanks Patti, Spring teases us in the South, the weather can be 80 one day and 40 the next…yes fingers crossed the pool will be ready for Spring break at the end of March.

  6. Julie says:

Happy March Jenna. I enjoyed looking at the sum up of the past few months with your bag. How nice to go out with your friend for a birthday lunch. I enjoyed looking at the family photos. So happy that spring is on the way.

Oh Jenna, our fun lunch together was the best, time for another one, soon and with Ricki Jill where we’ll have lots of sweets!! I know how much you enjoy getting away to the beach house during these cold months and we’ve certainly had our share of cold and wet! Looks like fun Mardi Gras celebrations around your house and your back patio looks like it’s already getting ready for spring. Happy March Jenna……

    • Yes, it was so much fun and little did we know at the time that RJ was bravely fighting her battle…we always have fun on the coast no matter the weather and the kids had a blast catching beads from the pirates in the boat parade. So glad March has arrived!

  8. Cyndi Raines says:

Yes, Happy March 1st! Enjoyed seeing the pictures of a pool party in December, how awesome! Hopefully your liner will come soon and more fun to be had! I would love a spring fling somewhere warmer than 20 degrees, haha! Although today we should be nearing 40 and I will take down the winter greenery and Christmas lights. That alone will encourage me that spring is on its way. Thanks Jenna! P.s. Loved your painting of the daffodil the other day, it is my favorite spring flower!

  9. Can’t wait for the daffodils! Happy Spring my friend!

  10. How fun to have lunch with Email. I hope Ricki Jill can join you soon. Prayers for Ricki Jill. A difficult time for her. How nice to have your family join you for some warm weather fun. Mardi Gras looks like a blast. The kiddos are growing up too fast. Love seeing their smiling faces. I think we are all ready for spring.

    • Thank you Linda, Yay Spring and warmer weather! We are hoping to see Ricki Jill soon, she has to stay very isolated during her treatments due to a very compromised immune system.

  11. Sarah says:

Happy March, Jenna! I’m with you, ready to welcome spring!
I love that you and Emily live close enough to celebrate your December birthdays together. That is special!
Your family celebrations always look fun and festive. It’s so nice that your children and grands live so close and are a constant part of your life.

  12. Happy Mardi Gras to you!

  13. Kitty says:

How nice that you and Emily had a champagne lunch for your December birthdays. Your family provides lots of reasons to celebrate and have a party. Happy Mardi Gras!

  14. lghiggins says:

I love seeing that your daffodils are peeking up. This is a good time to share the hope of spring in the U.S. and better days for the embattled Ukrainians.

  15. You’ve had a marvelous quarter. I love your tabletop with the wonderful snowman and snow lady on their ice skates. Are the glass? I adore your design! I was late to the party today, but I’m finally up and posted. Hope you’ll come by for a visit. I had technical issues with my external hard drive; everything is finally back in order. CherryKay

    • Thank you Cherry Kay, the snowmen are acrylic, I’ve had them forever and love to use them for winter decorations. I’m glad you got your issues fixed, I will be by for a visit~

  16. Deb C says:

Happy Mardi Gras Jenna, I enjoy seeing your boat parades! Glad you and Emily could celebrate your birthdays together and soon you will get together with Ricki Jill. We had a colder than normal January but are seeing spring bulbs sprouting which is promising. Hope you get your new pool liner soon!

  17. Nancy says:

Happy Spring to you… the warm weather greets you with open arms. I’m so glad you got to see Emily and both celebrated each other’s birthday. Your round up was wonderful… so happy to see your family with big smiles. And then Mardi Gras fun to sum it all up.
    Happy March Jenna!

  18. Jenna, enjoyed reading your recap of the last few months. I can’t believe it is already the month of March. Love the parade and oh my kiddos would so love those beads. I hope your day is wonderful. YES, we need some normalcy in our lives as that is how most of us deal with the abnormal of life. Hugs and blessings to you dear Jenna. Cindy

  19. Annika Perry says:

Jenna, lovely to meet you across the blogs! Wow, a wonderfully busy couple of months and oh, such sunshine and warmth! I’m rather partial to bags and love the tote bag across the photos – a great idea!

  20. Jill Kuhn says:

Happy belated birthday Jenna! And YAY to Spring flowers! 🌼

  21. Ricki Treleaven says:

I enjoyed seeing your Mardi Gras and Christmas photos. January was a miserably wet month, and that’s why we have extreme mold counts in our air currently! I can’t even sit outside now with the air quality being what it is! So I’ve been sitting in sunny windows! It’s almost as nice as sitting outside.

    • Thank you Ricki Jill, you were missed this time, but hopefully next time you’ll be able to join us! I have been trying to sit on the patio but there are wasps and carpenter bees zooming around. I was wondering why the air quality is so bad, thanks for explaining it! Even if you can’t be outside, sunny days make me happy 🙂
