Hurricane Healing, 18 months later…and a few Easter ideas

Hurricane Sally hit our little piece of paradise in Sept 2020

Not what we needed after 6 months of Covid lock down…

But we are resilient, like so many coping with difficulties~

With a big serving of patience and a lot of good luck,

things are slowly getting back to the way we would like them to be…

Our pool liner was damaged during the hurricane,

lots of tiny holes from the palm leaves and debris that blew in

It held up for a while but a January freeze this year

caused the liner to tear and the water drained out into the sand

A new liner was ordered and repairs began in mid March

When we arrived for Spring Break last week

it looked pretty sad,

but the pool crew promised to get the liner installed

and everything up and running in a few days

It was fascinating to watch

Once the liner was in place they placed big vacuum hoses

down the sides between the liner and the walls

As the pool began filling with water,

the vacuums removed excess air,

resulting in a smooth finish

It took about 30 hours to fill the pool

We were able to turn the heater on as it was filling

so when it was finished, swimming began!

The temps have been in the 70s this past week,

but the heater is needed this time of year for comfortable swimming

The big boat was delivered after 18 months at the dealership

and a lot of repair

Everyone was so excited!

The pier is no longer empty!

We are so thankful to have our paradise restored!

We won’t be spending Easter here this year

but we had fun reminiscing about Easters past

Last year we celebrated Easter early on the coast with Easter Sunshine

Then we celebrated Easter again in “the city” with a

Spring Charcuterie Spread

In 2020 we had an Beach Bunny Carrot Brunch

With a Bird’s Nest Cake for dessert

I love to decorate the beach house tree for the season

Easter Egg Tree

And Spring is the time to bring out the bunnies, carrots and eggs

Are you decorating for Spring or Easter?

I am always excited at the beginning of a new season

and I can change things up a bit!

Prayers for Ukraine
