Home Decor, By the Sea Mermaid Tray

Welcome to The By the Sea on a Tray Blog Tour!

I’m joining my friend Katherine from Katherine’s Corner,

and some other special friends,

for another seasonal Tray Blog Tour

A big thanks to Katherine!

She is kicking off the tour today with her tray creation

You can find all the other tour links at the end of the post

to continue the tour

Instead of my usual Take-out Tuesday recipe today,

I am sharing a By the Sea Mermaid tray

I made this for a centerpiece for our outdoor table,

which just happens to be by the sea!

We spend much of the summer enjoying the coastal breezes

at our beach house

Over the years I have collected many beachy things

This tray usually sits on the end table near the doors to the porch

and I change the arrangement often

I gathered some of my favorite coastal things

and arranged them on the tray

Can you tell that turquoise is my favorite color?

hmmmm… I think this tray needs a mermaid!

The tray elements clockwise from left include:

palm tree candle sticks,

a painted sand dollar bottle

a large decorative bottle with a glass fishing float ornament topper,

a funky candle stick with a decorative orb

a crazy crab,

a mermaid

a sea shell shaped striped vase

and a large faux starfish

The table is polywood, extremely durable and heavy,

it didn’t even move during Hurricane Sally in 2020!

It is my family’s favorite place to dine and we can seat as many as 10

A seahorse table runner, seashell plates and forks,

beach themed margarita glasses, aqua chargers,

and starfish candle holders,

all blend with the mermaid tray centerpiece

I can’t source anything on the tray or table,

I’ve had everything for a while,

but I can share the info on several items that I made

Sand Dollar Bottle/tutorial here

Seashell Forks/tutorial here

There isn’t a tutorial for the margarita glasses,

they were painted with paint made for glass,

with wavy strokes around them to mimic the ocean

in white and various shades of blue

The bottoms are painted to look like sand

with glass beads like sea glass
