Throwback Thursday, Easy Summer Desserts

Last weekend I heard this comment

“Nobody makes dessert around here anymore…”

I was thinking, “Didn’t I just make those Key Lime Pie Minis

not to mention the Jack Daniels chocolate cake

I bought for Father’s Day…”

“I promise I’ll make some next week for the 4th,” I said

I must admit, I have been lazy in the kitchen lately…

but when you have a son that is always cooking fabulous things…

the other night he used his TrompoKing and whipped up

Chicken Tzatziki Gryos…

{grilled chicken served in pita bread with Trader Joe’s Tzatziki sauce}

Hard to compete against that!

Looking through my dessert recipes,

I found several extra easy ones that are perfect for summer,

everyone will love them

and they only take a few minutes to prep

Two Bite Cherry Pies are made with 2 ingredients!

Crescent roll dough and cherry pie filling

Jazz them up with red, white and blue sprinkles for the 4th

Inside Out Berry Pie is filled with Oreo cookies,

berries, sweetened condensed milk, Cool Whip,

and frozen for the perfect way to cool off on a hot summer day

Aloha Raspberry Bread Pudding calls for King’s Hawaiian rolls,

raspberries, eggs, butter, cream and white chocolate chips

Blueberry Cheesecake Danish can be served for breakfast or dessert,

and you can top it with ice cream 😋

The dough is filled with sweetened cream cheese and blueberries

then baked until golden

Make or buy your favorite cake

and top it with red, white, and blue M & Ms

for an easy festive dessert

This Triple Chocolate USA Cake only takes 5 minutes to prep!

Looks like you are going to have a very “sweet” 4th.

Lol, those are fighting words….”nobody makes dessert around here anymore”.You are always trying new and creative things, the yummy proof is right here! Have a great weekend, Jenna. And with a tzatziki stack like you described it’d be hard to have much room left for dessert anyway.

Yum! Yum! Yum! It’s going to be a “sa-weet” 4th of July for you all! Thank you for the inspiration! ❤️🤍💙

You are very blessed indeed, a son who loves to grill and cook! LOL, funny how we hear those little comments about sweets. You have some great recipes to pull out of your recipe box. I have to make those cherry bites, yum……….

  5. Cherry Pie Bites for the win! – Thanks and Happy 4th to you!

Jenna, I can always depend on you to offer up some inspiration. Lucky you to have a son who likes to grill. Takes the heat out of the kitchen and off the main cook. Dinner sounded delicious! Can’t imagine anyone thinking you don’t make desserts. You are always cooking up something delicious! No, me, that’s another story. Can’t remember the last time I baked. I think I want to try those mini cherry bites. Happy 4th of July!

    • Thanks so much Sarah, I definitely don’t cook as much as I used to, and seem to always be looking for shortcuts 😂 I do love mini dessert bites, less guilt that way and the cherry pie bites couldn’t be easier! I hope you have a lovely holiday weekend!

  7. We love gyros, chicken or lamb…all very tasty. That chocolate cake looks magnificent!

  8. Jenna, I can’t imagine anyone wanting dessert with all of the good food always offered. All of these desserts look great and easy. With you and your son. y’all make a great team! Happy Thursday!

  9. I like the little two bite cherry pies, could snarf a few of those down right now:@)

Two ingredients? I am IN!!! Haha. Wow, these all look very doable. We may be having some people over for fireworks on SundayI may try some of these. Yesterday for my husband’s birthday, I made a homemade mayonaise cake. I can’t eat gluten or eggs, but dang, it looked good. Ha. There is definitely someting about making something in the kitchen. I’ve got to look up that Jack Daniels cake, my husband would love that. Hope you have a great day!

    • Thanks Jessica, that is incredibly nice of you to make a cake you can’t even eat! I’ve not made a mayonnaise cake, I want to try that. I don’t have a recipe for the Jack Daniels cake, I bought it at the grocery store {Publix} Have fun on the 4th!

      • Jessica says:

Hi. Thanks! My husband can eat just about anything, and I’m the opposite. Ha. Oh, good to know about that cake. I didn’t realize it was a mix. I’ll look for it, thank you. The mayonnaise cake makes a nice batter. I baked it in a Bundt pan and it turned out really pretty. Hope you have a great weekend.

  11. I am loving that Raspberry Bread Pudding! I could enjoy a serving right this minute!
