Christmas in July Gingerbread Ornament

Welcome to the Monthly Creative Craft Blog Hop

A big thanks to Sara from Birdz of a Feather for hosting!

Today we’re going to have fun with a little Christmas in July

Now is a great time to get a head start on Christmas crafts,

decorations and gifts

before things get too crazy later in the Fall

Today I’m sharing an ornament I made last year

for a group of special friends,

my Traveling Tote Group

We all share a love of MacKenzie-Childs

Last October I shared the mini Little Red Trucks

I made for them the previous Christmas, 2020

MacKenzie-Childs signature design is Courtly Check,

so when I saw these cute mini black and white check stockings

an ornament idea was born for Christmas 2021

This is a simple craft,

it’s really more about shopping

to find the things to put it together

Hobby Lobby had a treasure trove of things to choose from

I thought these cardboard gingerbread men were super cute

and just the right size for popping out of the stocking top

Then I spied the mini Merry Christmas rolling pins,

they came in a variety of colors

and the black and white ones were perfect

I got some peppermint candy mini picks and festive ball picks

to tuck in the stocking too

I stuffed the stocking bottoms with a little toilet paper

and then simply tucked in the gingerbread man

Then a rolling pin in front and the mini picks in back

That’s it!

You can hang it on your tree or anywhere you like!

An ornament is a great gift because you can’t ever have too many!

Make multiples,

wrap them in a small bag with some tissue

and you have gifts ready for friends, hosts, neighbors

I love this! ( Love the Traveling Tote Girls and your adventures too!) I am pinning as my kitchen this year is going to be all about gingerbread, so this will be perfect. Off to Hob Lob as soon as it opens… lol. Thanks so much for sharing!

Adorable and that mini rolling pin is like the cherry on top! I actually hadn’t even heard of MacKenzie-Childs until I read your post last year; I just know if will inspire me too one day to try something with a courtly check!

    • Thanks so much Sara! I have been a MacKenzie-Childs fan forever, I just love their pattern mixes, colorful designs and of course the fact that their ceramics are hand painted. I need to get busy and figure out what I am going to make for my Tote friends this year! Happy crafting!
