Haunted Halloween Mansion

Welcome to the September Creative Craft Blog Hop
hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather

A little Halloween fun today with a Spooky vignette
featuring a Haunted Mansion

It started with cardboard house I found at the craft store [Hobby Lobby]
I decided to turn it into a slightly spooky haunted house
It’s made out of thick, stiff cardboard
I lightly dry brushed some Graphite Gray paint on it,
being careful not to get any area “wet,”
which might cause the material to get soft or wrinkled
I used black and gray on the roof
and a little orange brushed with a black overlay on the chimney
I wanted the house to look old, neglected and weathered
I made a bunting and some signs on the computer using PicMonkey
Print out the signs on card stock, and cut them up
I colored a strip of white paper with brown marker
and glued it to a popsicle stick to make the sign post
Popsicle sticks make a great reinforcement for the card stock signs

Bright yellow squares of paper are taped inside the upper windows
to look like lamp light and Halloween picks of ghosts,
pumpkins and candy corn are peeking out the windows

Pumpkin and Frankenstein pails are ready for Trick or Treating

This is the intersection of Spooky St and Boo Blvd~
that poor fellow on the porch has been waiting forever
to see the witch!

The witch is home by the way, you can tell by her hat on the roof

If you should be in the neighborhood,
or passing by on Haunted Hwy,
beware of spiders, ghosts and goblins….

Enter at your own risk!

Halloween is just around the corner
So make some Halloween decorations and have some crafty fun!

Spooktacular, Jenna!
Thank you Rita, happy weekend!
Creepy, cool and fun! Had a laugh when I saw the house on top of the witch. Brings back memories of Wizard of Oz :).
Thanks so much Sara! And thank you for being our hostess!
My pleasure!
I have used this house before to make Christmas houses. Why I never thought to use them for Halloween is beyond me. Great job!! Sign me up… I need a few of these for Halloween. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Tammy, I’ve actually made 2 of these for Christmas also, they’re such fun to style and decorate!
You are incredible. I think I might try my hand at this project with my granddaughter. Thanks for the great directions.
Thanks Bernadette! This would be a great project to do with your granddaughter, have fun!
I’ve had that house (or one close to it) for years sitting undone on my shelf. Hopefully I can find the time before Halloween to make something as charming as this with it!
I have used the same house for holiday decorations too, decorated with gingerbread men, little plastic candy canes etc., they’re lots of fun the play with and style! I look forward to seeing what you come up with!
This is fabulous!! What a fun project – you didn’t miss a detail!
