Party Panache, Peppermint Mousse Parfaits

This dessert is so pretty, full of holiday flavor,

and so easy to serve because it’s in individual dishes

They are creamy little bowls of peppermint heaven!

All you need are a few ingredients, chocolate wafers,

instant pudding mixes, milk, Cool Whip,

peppermint extract and candy

DSC_0006

Crush the chocolate wafers then add 2 T melted butter

and mix again

The crumbs will still be very loose,

but the butter adds just a little stability

DSC_0007

Reserve about 1/2 cup of crumbs for garnishing

Divide the rest in the bottom of individual bowls, shot glasses,

martini or wine glasses, or ramekins

This recipe makes 18 1/2 cup servings

You can make larger servings in 1 cup jars if desired

I used these individual “Just Desserts” by Libbey

These straight sided bowls are perfect for

single serving desserts, dips, or appetizers

I found these dessert dishes at BBB several years ago,

or you can get a similar set online glass dessert cups

Sprinkle a layer of peppermint on top of the cookie crumbs

I used Andes Peppermint chips,

but you could use any chopped up peppermint candy

DSC_0013

To make the mousse, make the vanilla pudding according

to the box directions

I used French Vanilla, which is very yellow,

so use regular vanilla for better color control

DSC_0009

Beat the cream cheese until fluffy

DSC_0008

Then combine pudding, cream cheese, dry cheesecake pudding mix,

red food coloring and peppermint extract

Now fold in Cool Whip

DSC_0012

You can use a small scoop to fill the dishes

DSC_0015

Then smooth out the tops with the back of a spoon

Sprinkle a little of the remaining cookie crumbs on top

and add more peppermints

  1. Such a fabulous holiday dessert! Thank you for showing each step-very helpful. Peppermint happens to be one of my favorites.

  2. Definitely a keeper! I love peppermint and this would be great for a dessert buffet. I’ll check out those little cups; I could see those coming in hand for Cork Poppers now that we are doing appetizer/dessert gatherings. They’d be good for mise en place, too. Thanks for this one!

  3. I love a dessert that is made in individual dishes; it just makes it feel really festive, and this one is certainly lovely to behold!

So cute and so easy to make. It sounds delicious. I try to not use so many processed foods in cooking, but sometimes it just makes sense.

  8. I know I’d love this! And thank you for mentioning the color of the pudding… Why??? Pudding isn’t yellow-Jello! Have a great week Jenna:@)

Dear Jenna, Don’t know if your birthday has passed or is soon, but best wishes for the day and the next year ahead! Today is my birthday–and I have never felt so behind. Between church events, a neighborhood luminary project (beautiful!) and just trying to finish things up, I feel WAY behind. But, shopping online has been a lifesaver, and hey, we Sagittarian women never give up! Keep these recipes coming and have a wonderful holiday season. Georgia Gal

    • Happy birthday Sheila! we are almost birthday twins, my birthday is the 11th. Sounds like you are a busy gal! I was really behind too, and they a few days ago I spent some time shopping on Amazon and knocked it out! I hope you have a very Merry Christmas and Go Dawgs!

What a perfectly festive and easy holiday dessert, Jenna!! I’m going to look for the peppermint candies, as I’m out of them, but if not, crushed candy canes will work!

  16. Yumm and so pretty. I love individual desserts, a taste of something delicious in a smaller bite. I have quite a few small glass dessert cups. This looks so easy too. I always pipe in my mousse, so there is no mess around the edges. Thanks Jenna for sharing another lovely dessert. Merry Christmas.
