I am all about March this week,
and today I want to show you how to draw/paint shamrocks
so you can make some St. Patrick’s Day crafts
A shamrock is just 3 or 4 heart shapes put together on a stem
To paint a shamrock, or a 3 or 4 leaf clover,
you just need hearts
Painting hearts is easy,
if you need a refresher course you can see Painting Hearts here
Two C shapes, one backward, tilted and joined together,
then fill in the middle
You can use paint, markers, chalk ink pens, whatever you like
I used 2 green Sharpies for these little bags
Acrylic paint made for glass was used on this vase
When you paint on glass,
you can practice your strokes on a piece of aluminum foil,
the surface is slick like glass
so your paint will react the same way
The shamrock leaves on the vase are composed of 2 short, fat strokes
and then a thin stroke for the stem
You can see the tutorial for the leprechaun here
The shamrocks on these stemmed glasses are larger
but painted the same way
Once the green paint was dry
I added simple patterns with white
These little bags are fun to use as favors at each place setting
Fill them with a few chocolates and coins for each guest
You can also paint a shamrock plant
like this one I painted on a decorative sign for the porch
to welcome leprechauns!
I hope you will have fun with shamrocks
