Tales of the Traveling Tote, September 23

Happy September!
It’s time for more adventures of the Traveling Tote!
We are a group of 10 that share a love of MacKenzie-Childs
We all have the same large Courtly Check tote bag
We post about where our totes have been every 3 months
and host a giveaway which you can enter at the end of this post
It has been a hot summer in the South
My tote, Miss Coquille & I spent the month of July
at our beach house on the Alabama Gulf Coast
Please pray for all those impacted by Hurricane Idalia
Fortunately we were not impacted this time 🙏

Even when it’s really hot,
there is always a nice breeze by lunchtime
and I love to hang out on the porch

You can enjoy the view
and there is always something to see to keep you entertained

After almost 3 years since we were hit with Hurricane Sally in 2020,
we finally got the remaining part of the pier constructed
and the second boat lift installed

We did pop the champagne!

My family was here most of the month too,
so there was a lot of action
Friends came over to watch the fireworks on the 4th of July
We can see displays all up and down the beach from our deck
The kids looked quite festive with light necklaces and swords

Most days there was fishing going on,

either by boat or on the pier

Superboy {man!} caught this large fish
right from our pier and his friend caught a monster!
The pool is a popular place to hang out

It’s not only for cooling off, there are boat races too!

We have a new friend this summer,
we call him New Freddy
Our original Freddy never came back after Hurricane Sally

This blue heron has been hanging around a lot

My SIL has been feeding him fish on the pier from his bait bucket

So New Freddy has gotten quite friendly
and seemed to enjoy watching Charlie Brown in his kayak

I love to set up my easel and paint while I’m watching the boats go by

Everyone agrees that life is better at the beach!

I went back to “the city” at the beginning of August
and have been staying inside in the A/C

Playing with Sunflowers and dreaming of Fall

I visited my favorite grocery store this week
where Fall is in full swing!
This is where I got my MacKenzie-Childs knock off pumpkins last year
I didn’t linger long, I was afraid I would buy something 😂

Like one of these cute pumpkin wreaths!
Yesterday Miss Coquille and I were back on the road
to the beach house for Labor Day weekend
with extended family

Happy September Jenna! So glad your beach house wasn’t impacted by Idalia, especially since your dock and lift were just repaired! I hope you enjoy your holiday weekend with family and beautiful blue skies and blue water views. Glad you have ‘New Freddy’ 🙂
Thank you Mary, it’s a nice way to end the summer and start fall~ we will be watching the Tide Roll tomorrow!
That pumpkin wreath is darling — and possibly easy to make if you can find the wee pumpkins. Your time at the beach sounds fabulous, especially with family about so often. I love the wonderful photos. Lots of love there.(And big fish!)
Thank you Jeanie! I want to revisit that store and look some more, so many cute things!
You know this is my idea of heaven! Happy September to you and joyful travels and adventures yet to come!
Thank you Leslie Anne, I hope you have a fun Labor Day weekend, despite the rainy weather!
I love seeing that photo of your grands on Independence Day with their fancy light necklaces. That’s a great photo! New Freddy wants you to adopt him, I think. He likes hanging out at Chez Meon! 😀 It has been so hot this August that the pool is the place to be. The boat races look fun! Cheers to the boat lift being complete, YAY! I know y’all are so happy to have things back to normal after all you went through with Hurricane Sally. Is that the Pig at Liberty Park? I need to go shopping there…OMGOODNESS! I love the pretty vase you gave me from there. Our Pig out here at Mt. Laurel needs to step it up! Happy fall!
Thanks Ricki Jill 🙂 Yes it’s the Pig at Liberty Park, you really need to go check it out, their gift shop section is amazing!
Wonderful memories for you all!
Thank you Dorothy!
Jenna, I love seeing photos of your grands. They have grown up before my eyes. They are beautiful and handsome. Your Alabama beach house is fabulous and the perfect spot for friends and family to gather. Happy Labor Day Weekend!
Thank you Pam! Sometimes I am shocked when I come across an old photo of when one of the grands was younger, they are all so grown up now! Superboy is taller than me and will be 16 in May!
Jenna, your summer days at the beach make me smile. How wonderful to have this beautiful seaside family gathering place. You are making amazing memories for your children and grands. What an amazing catch for “Super Boy”. Here is to many more wonderful times together with your family in this beautiful home. Cheers to welcoming September.
Thanks so much Sarah! It really fills my heart with joy that the grands all love this place. Everybody in my family would rather be here than anyplace else. I am looking forward to fall and September, friends, football and cooler temps!
Jenna, I love how much fun you have with your family at the beach! It looks like it has been a very busy and fun summer for you. That is the cutest pic of the grands all lit up on the fourth, love those little lights. I see your new Freddy is thinking about a permanent home with you. I think he is perfect for your beach house and so much fun to watch. Oh my, all my guys would be so jealous of the fishing from your pier! Those are some catches! Love all the pics, the grands are all growing up, fast!!!
Happy September sweet friend……..
Thank you Emily, yes they are growing up so fast, but they are all so sweet and fun to be with. The weather is not great this weekend, rain off and on today, but we will still have fun~ the kids just went swimming in the rain and thought that was a blast! Happy September and I hope we can get together soon!
Life is better at the beach, and I hope you are having a wonderful weekend there. Look at that huge fish! I hope September is wonderful for you, and no more hurricanes to worry about. Go to the Dollar Tree right after Christmas and buy the lighted necklaces on clearance and save them for next summer 🙂
Thanks Deb, we are having a grand time with my family plus 2 of my nieces and their families, so fun!
Jenna, so happy you can get away to your lovely beach house. The grands look like they are loving every minute. Good food, fun, swimming , fishing and boating sounds like so much fun. New Freddy is so cute. Wonderful precious moments with your family is priceless. happy Labor Day weekend.
Thank you Linda, we are having a great time! Happy September!
What a great time you have had despite the heat! It was a good year to not have a lot of hurricane maintenance to do. What a relief! Your grandkids are so cute. What a blessing to have them with you at the beach.
Thank you LInda, have a lovely Labor Day and Happy September!
Happy September! What a fun time you have had at your Beach House! It’s perfect for your family gatherings! The grandkids get bigger everytime I see them!
The fish that are caught are remarkable! What catches!
Fun times with your tote.
By the Way… I wish I had a store like that!
Have a wonderful weekend!
Thanks Nancy, we are having a ball!
Happy September and Labor Day weekend, Jenna! Your beach house is beautiful and has such gorgeous views. I know that you must have such a wonderful time there. Your grands are adorable! I have enjoyed seeing all your beautiful sunflower creations. Enjoy your holiday, sweet friend!
Jenna, your summer at the beach house looks so idyllic. The kids obviously love the beach and all it offers insofar as recreation is concerned, and with yours and HHJr’s mad skills at the grill and in the kitchen, it’s obviously the place to be. Love the photo of the kids on the 4th, and the change from Superboy to Man is astounding this year. Can’t believe how docile New Freddy is. We have a blue heron on the river shore, and he’s so skittish, he hears us coming on the gravel path parallel and above the river and takes off, going across the river and far, far downstream. A huge WOW to your grocery store with all the gorgeous fall decor. That would be too easy for me to grab, too hard to resist! Happy September, Jenna, and I hope y’all are having a great weekend. I know football is involved. 😉
Thanks so much Rita, New Freddy feels right at home! Superman is taller than me now and will be driving next May. The grocery store is amazing, I can’t wait to go back next week and look around some more 🙂 Yes, we are all about football right now, Happy September!
Life is so much better at the beach! I am so glad to see that your dock is back and you can continue to enjoy your wonderful family here at the beach house. The pool looks so amazing and refreshing! Yes, fall is in full swing everywhere, even Christmas in some stores!!!
Thank you Jackie, Happy September!
Your time at the beach looks so wonderful!
Thanks so much Joanne, Happy September!
I love seeing your fun times at your beach dwelling, Jenna, and seeing the happy faces of the kids! Wow, that fish was huge! The blue heron was a fun visitor.
Happy September!
Thanks so much Kitty, we all love being there 🙂
Love your tote visiting the beach with you! Such a wonderful place to be, and share so many happy times with your family. I just love the picture of your two kids snuggled up on the couch after what looks like a fun and exciting day! And New Freddie looks right at home. So fun that your grocery store is all ready for Halloween. I’d get some of those mercury glass pumpkins and some of the baby boos too. Mr Wrinkly Guy, the skulls, and the skeletons scare me though! 🤣 Thanks for sharing your lovely summer – I feel like I’ve had a little virtual beach vacation!
Thank you Barbara, you are sweet to visit and read about my tote adventures, thank you for your kind words 🙂
