Sunday Supper, Make it a Savory Pie!

While summer peaches and plums are still available,

there are several pies that you might want to make~

Summer Peach Quiche Lorraine is a traditional Quiche Lorraine

made with bacon, onions, and Swiss cheese

with the addition of peaches and plums

It also has prosciutto and almonds~

so many wonderful flavors!

Savory Plum Tart with Pecan Crust is similar,

with bacon, onions, Swiss cheese and plums

plus blueberries, Parmesan cheese

and pecans instead of almonds

Pear & Gorgonzola Quiche is another version of Quiche Lorraine

with pears and Gorgonzola cheese instead of Swiss cheese

It is baked in a wonderful walnut butter pie crust

Do you have an abundance of zucchini from your garden

or from a neighbor?

Make a Bacon Lattice Pimiento Cheese & Zucchini Pie

Zucchini slices and corn kernels are tucked into a pie crust

with onion and pimiento cheese, baked

and topped with a bacon lattice after baking

How about a Crazy Good 3 Cheese Zucchini Pie?

It’s packed with flavor with zucchini,

Brussels sprouts, corn, bacon and 3 kinds of cheese

3 Cheese Zucchini Pie is a crustless version,

and no meat, just zucchini, onions and corn

and a lot of sharp cheddar, Parmesan

and sharp white cheddar cheese

So when you’re thinking, “what should we have for dinner?”

Think savory pie!

I will be making the corn and zucchini quiche to serve at Canasta this week. Yummy idea.

  2. Some great combo of flavours! I need to try that savoury plum pie ASAP!

  3. Karen says:

I haven’t thought of adding fruit to a quiche but I’m sure the flavors of salty meats, onion and cheese are nicely balanced by the sweetness of peaches.

  4. Pam says:

Jenna, so many delicious pie recipes. They all look and sound fabulous! Thanks for sharing these savory dishes. Happy Sunday!

Wow Jenna, any of these delicious pies would be great to add to my game day spread. The only question, which! Happy Sunday….

Very unique combinations. Jenna. That peach quiche sounds and looks yummy. I tried a pawpaw today for the first time, and I bet it would go well with the peach flavor. It’s a very tropical taste, would make a good frozen adult beverage! Our local ice cream shop makes a pawpaw ice cream when they’re in season (now). They’re native to WV, and I found them on my walk today for the first time! I’ve only been walking this path over 20 yrs!

    • Thank you Rita! I’ve never heard of a pawpaw and had to research them. The flavor is described as a combination of mango, banana, tropical fruit and pineapple~sounds wonderful! Apparently they are difficult to find so enjoy them when you do!

Some really great ideas to using up fresh produce!

Jenna, these pies look scrumptious! I especially like the ones with zucchini as an ingredient. It always seems that there is abundance of zucchini in the summer. Thanks for sharing! Happy Sunday, sweet friend!

I just don’t even know which one to pin first because they all look so good. I haven’t gotten any peaches lately in my CSA subscription. Where are you buying them locally? @ Murphree’s???

  13. Joanne says:

These all sound so yummy! I haven’t had any fresh peaches yet but I am getting lots and lots of zucchini in my box each week.

  14. Kim says:

These recipes all look so good Jenna that I hardly know which one to begin with. I am especially intrigued by the 3 cheese zucchini pie and popped over to see the full recipe. I have an onion allergy and am trying to think what I could substitute instead. Most of the time I just omit them and no one is any the wiser but they seem like a main ingredient here. Maybe sliced mushrooms lightly sauteed in garlic or thin carrot slices? Hmmm. Maybe I’ll just have to experiment. Thanks for the round-up of savory pies! Pinning!

    • I am so sorry about your onion allergy, that has to be difficult because onions are in so many things. For the 3 cheese zucchini pie, just leave them out, it’s the cheese that brings the flavor. Maybe add a little garlic…

All of these look so good, Jenna. That pear and Gorgonzola sounds particularly interesting. I have been thinking about making a double crust chicken pot pie. I don’t know if it’s something to do with fall coming, or what, but that just seems appropriate to me. I generally just use a puff pastry top, so using a double crust will be a first for me. Thanks for the inspiration here.

Love the idea of a savory pie or quiche Jenna! The pear and Gorgonzola quiche sounds especially tasty! Happy Tuesday ♥
