Laborless Labor Day

Next weekend is Labor Day weekend,

and many in the USA celebrate with family and friends

Labor Day is a federal holiday in the United States celebrated on the first Monday of September to honor and recognize the American labor movement and the works and contributions of laborers to the development and achievements in the United States. source

Here are some ways to make your Labor Day effortless!

Set up a drink station with a big jug of water,

a pitcher of Lemonade, a cooler of beer, an ice bucket,

the ingredients to make specialty cocktails,

wine, and paper cups or glasses

Everyone can help themselves

Provide a bucket full of snack bags for the kids {or adults!}

Here are 3 themes to make your meal special without a lot of labor

All the highlighted recipes are very easy to prepare

and in most cases, can be made 1-2 days ahead

Family Friendly Charcuterie Buffet

Instead of a charcuturie board, set up a buffet ~

sliced meats and cheese,

sliced cucumber, cherry tomatoes, grapes, nuts, chips, dip,

tortellini that has been cooked and tossed with pesto sauce,

plus Bacon Parmesan Bites

Pigs in a Blanket with Mustard Butter

LA Shrimp Boil is a crowd pleaser,

Shrimp are cooked with corn, potatoes, sausage

and special seasonings

Add a platter of chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil-A or the grocery deli

for those who don’t want shrimp

It’s hard to resist a Hot Dog Bar

Set up a table with buns, condiments, pickles and chips

These Plastic Food Baskets are wonderful for meals like this,

just toss the paper liner away and clean up is done!

Toss the hot dogs on the grill

Yum!

These salads will go with any of the meals

Bleu Cheese Lite Coleslaw

Corn Salad

Modern Waldorf Salad

You’ll need dessert too…

Lazy Lemon Pie Jars are made in minutes and so easy to serve

Strawberry Pie Sticks are made with only 2 ingredients!

Set out several flavors of ice cream, cookies, candy,

marshmallows, sprinkles, chocolate & caramel sauces,

and Ice Cream Cone Spoons on a tray or board

and let guests can make their own sundaes

Jenna, It’s hard to believe Labor Day is upon us! So many tasty options, you reminded me that we haven’t had a Lowcountry Boil yet this summer. Happy Sunday ♥

    • Thank you Mary~actually the first seafood boil I ever went to was at my cousin’s in Wilmington NC! She dumped the drained pot right onto a newspaper covered picnic table and everyone dug in!

Jenna, don’t know why my comments on the last few of your posts is showing anonymous .. I’ll try to look a little closer at this one….but I’ll never rule out operator error! LOL. All your suggestions look yummy…not sure what we will be having but I know it will be a picnic…that is if it don’t rain and the creek don’t rise. LOL Happy New Week. Kari @ Me and My Captain take care 🙏🏻❤️🥰

Oh, Darn. We were scheduled to have our seafood boil today, but hubby and I caught some sort of nasty virus this week, and we are simply stumbling around with hot tea and awful hacking coughs. Maybe next week, yours looks fabulous and I can’t wait to have the whole family here again…for NUM, a fish boil with all the extra goodies we throw in also., Hugs, Sandi
