About

Hi,

My name is Jenna

I am an artist, designer, daughter, sister, mother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law,  grandmother, friend and general sounding board.

I try to live an artful life, as in an art filled life, being creative everyday and grateful for every moment.

The Painted Apron was born from a recipe collection I put together for my children, tried and true favorites that they grew up eating.  I wanted them to have these recipes to refer to and to bring back family memories.  And to update and change!

I am a little creative crazy, jumping from one project to the next.  Boundaries tend to get in my way so for this blog, The Painted Apron, I want to include my favorite creative areas, cooking, party planning, styling, gifts, crafts & painting, and  It is my sincere wish to inspire creativity in you, give you some jumping off points, and help you enjoy some new creations of your own.

I have lived in Connecticut, Southern and Northern California and I now live in Birmingham, Alabama. We have a coastal home in Orange Beach, Alabama and I divide my time between the two places.   I  am so lucky to live in such a beautiful and graceful place as the state of Alabama, where people are friendly, the foliage is beautiful, football is a religion,  and hospitality is an art.

My family is the center of my world and you will get to know them as you read my blog; I recently lost Hungry Husband, the most supportive guy ever and love of my life, so now I am beginning a new chapter of my life as a widow.  My children live close by, Hungry Husband Jr. my son and the greatest guy on the planet, and my daughter and best friend, Darling Daughter.

Hungry Husband Jr., is single and an incredible dad to his 2 boys, Super Boy and Big E.   Darling Daughter is married to Nicest Guy and they have an adorable daughter, CC, a sweet son, W, and one GIANT dog, Big Ben.

Please have fun here at “the Painted Apron” and get creative!  Visit my Gallery page to see a variety of my artwork.  After more than a decade of painting glassware and accessories for gift shops, I have retired to focus on this blog and more serious painting.  I still accept commissioned orders, feel free to contact me by email for more information at jfmdesigns@bellsouth.net

Join me as I have fun in my kitchen,  in my studio,  and in life in general and get inspired for your own creations!

Happy Creating!

Jenna

Thanks so much for becoming my newest follower and leaving a comment on my blog! At the time, my horse experience wasn’t funny but now I sure do see the humor in it! Glad it made you giggle! When I tried to responded to your email to me, it came up “no reply..” Is there a way I can correspond with you by email? And I’m not sure how to follow your blog. I am so wordpress illiterate… LOL! Thanks again!!!

Beautiful blog. I can’t wait to explore more.

  26. I have been reading your blog for years and love everything about it! However, I am at a loss as to how to access your various Free Printables in order to print them out. Could you offer some help as to how I find them so I can print them? Thank you SO MUCH!

    • Click on the highlighted words “free printable here” and it should open a new tab with the image to print. If that doesn’t work try opening the post in a different browser, like Google chrome. Thank you and I hope this helps!

  27. Hi, Jenna. Boy do these look nummy, the skewers! And of course all your artwork, I need to visit my wordpress list more to see you. Hugs, Sandi
