Place onion in a dry skillet with 1 tsp of salt.
Cook over medium low heat, stirring often, for about 30 minutes, adding more salt half way through.
Onions are done when they are caramel colored.
Combine with all other ingredients and place in a bowl or roll into a log and chill. Makes about 1 1/4 cups.
Place a generous slice on top of a hot steak when serving and it will melt into the meat adding more flavor
