Here is a super easy door decoration to whip up as the summer winds down. Here in the South it will be hot for weeks and weeks yet, so we move a little slower with the fall decor.
I found this wreath in the spring clearance section at Hobby Lobby. It didn’t look very Spring-like to me, but it would definitely perfect for Fall!
I tend to pick things up when I see them and like them, often with no plan in mind~I was so happy I had this today to make a fast and easy wreath. You could easily recreate this look with a grapevine wreath and some colorful ribbon or raffia.
Our “fiesta” party is this weekend, and I needed something, pronto, for the front door. There is so much going on inside the house I decided to keep the front door simple.
I had some burlap ribbon too…it’s a good idea to stock up on ribbon when it’s 50% off at HL…
To make the burlap “beard” make poofs by gathering a few inches of burlap ribbon and securing it with a small length of florist’s wire, then move down the ribbon a few inches and repeat until you have as much “poofed” ribbon as you need
I hate to be predictable so I only added the burlap at the bottom, sort of like a “beard.” Just attach the burlap to the wreath with some more wire under the poofs so it doesn’t show
Then with a big faux sunflower tucked in, [and secured with wire], the wreath looked just right!
Sunflowers are a predominant part of this party decor as well as a popular late summer decorating choice so this sunflower wreath is going to be perfect! The wreath is like a little preview of what lies behind the door, and it can display the party invite that lets guests know they are in the right place.
After the party, I can easily remove the invitation and the door will be all set for the next few weeks until something else ~like our Alabama football wreath~ goes up!
Don’t you love an excuse to redecorate for a new season? Thanks so much for your visit!
