I have had a real love affair with burlap lately! The last time I went to buy some, the salesperson said they were out~
“Isn’t that a bolt over there?” I pointed to a low shelf where I remembered I’d seen some before. “Oh, we must have gotten more in,” she said…
“Great! I’ll take one two three, four yards please!” I know, I panicked!
There could be a shortage! I am now officially a burlap hoarder.
So now with yards of creamy white burlap, what to do?
Holidays, parties, gift giving galore
A bottle of something is always a great choice, wine, a fine olive oil, bubble bath, a jar of jam or cookies, all can get a quick and fabulous wrap with a bit of burlap and some ribbon and tags
Got cookie cutters? Use them as a tag template
Compose a clever message
and tie them on!
or make a reusable chalkboard tag to hang on your package
the possibilities are endless!
I am so glad I have 4 yards!
Cut your burlap in a length 2x the height of your bottle plus about 3-4 inches, and wide enough to cover the sides when gathered at the top. Pull 3-4 burlap threads from each side to make fringe. For the wine wraps pictured here I used burlap rectangles that were about 12″ x 28″
Tuck some tissue in the top for an extra pop~a little goes a long way, this is 1/2 a small sheet
Be sure to use a bottle of Cupcake Wine for this one!
I’m going to need some more burlap!
