Holidays, Man Bait for Valentines Day

They say a way to a man’s heart is through his stomach~

Here are some goodies to get you there in a hurry!!

One bite of chocolate drizzled caramel maple bacon and he’ll be hooked!

Toss in a chocolate dipped caramel drizzled potato chip and he’ll be all yours!

I cooked the bacon on a sheet pan on parchment paper with skewers and no skewers~

Drain it well, and melt the chocolate with a little cream, just a drizzle~I was just making a little, enough for one hunky Valentine, so I used 2 squares of a large Godiva dark chocolate bar and about 1 tsp cream.  Put chocolate in a measuring cup in the microwave and cook for 20 second intervals at 50% power until  melted

Lay the bacon and chips on a piece of wax paper and drizzle or dip

Next melt the caramel, using the same method.

Place the pan of ooey gooey goodness in the fridge to harden

Then bait your trap!

Show your Valentine some LOVE~

With chips on the side!

Swoon…..gasp…..faint……go weak in the knees~

I am participating in Mystery Ingedient Club over at Rattlebridge Farm for Foodie Friday this week~the mystery ingredient is dark chocolate.   Pop on over to check out all the amazing chocolate recipes, the party starts at 7pm tonight!

MAN BAIT [chocolate caramel bacon and potato chips]

Course Appetizer, Dessert, Gift, Snack
Cuisine American
Keyword caramel bacon, caramel potato chips, chocolate bacon, chocolate dipped potato chips, man bait, sweet and salty snack, Valentine’s Day

Ingredients

  • 3 half slices of Maple bacon
  • 10 large ruffled potato chips
  • dark chocolate
  • caramel bits**
  • 1 T half and half or cream

Instructions

  • Thread bacon on short skewers.* Bake at 350 on a parchment paper lined baking sheet until crisp but not burnt.
  • Drain well.
  • Lay potato chips and cooked bacon on a piece of wax paper.
  • Chop chocolate and melt with about 1 tsp cream, in a glass measuring cup at 50% power for 20 seconds, stir and cook for 20 more seconds. Stir. Do not over cook, the chocolate will seize and get lumpy.
  • Immediately drizzle bacon and dip chips in melted chocolate. Repeat with caramel bits using about 1 tsp cream. Drizzle over bacon and chips. Place pan in refrigerator to harden. Makes 1 serving

Notes

*bacon on skewers will not cook properly in a skillet. Just eliminate skewers and fry if you prefer.
**I used Kraft Caramel Bits, that are made for baking. My grocery store doesn’t carry them but I found them at Walmart. You can use wrapped caramels if you can’t find the bits.

Stop back by on Sunday for some cupcakes that are sure to please any Valentine too!
