Party Panache, Playing with Dishes

playing with dishes

I am a confessed dish-a-holic…. I can’t resist them  😰

In an effort to contain my addiction, I decided to have some fun creating new ways to use things I had…

Once I got started, it was hard to stop! Endless possibilities!

Let’s start with Easter  🐇

A small cake stand, perched on a larger ruffle edge cake stand, inside a fluted quiche dish, on a purple charger

With a compote on top

Here the quiche baker is inverted and used as a pedestal, works either way

A crab mug topped with a salad plate and set inside a large shallow bowl would be great for serving shrimp or crab legs, place the seafood on the plate and discard shells into the bowl

I found things that were sturdy enough once stacked, that there was no need for securing, but to be on the safe side you can use double sided tape, stick-on velcro strips, or floral sticky putty

If you are totally committed to your creation, make it permanent with E6000 clear adhesive.  This is a great craft glue, widely available, at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s or Amazon.com here

A “one of a kind” cup and saucer pairs with a plate for a make-shift breakfast muffin stand

Transform a place setting by inverting the cereal bowl on top of the dinner plate and top with the salad plate and cup or mug

Fill the cup with dip or salsa and arrange cut up veggies and crackers or chips on the plates

You can create the dish stack based on the foods you will be serving

This server is composed of a fish platter, with a votive candle holder, topped with a ceramic crab wine bottle coaster, holding a shallow bowl

Multi level serving pieces are great space savers on the buffet or table also.  With stacked platters you can serve several things in the same amount of space as 1 platter

It makes the buffet visually more interesting too, with varied heights and elements

These two oblong fish platters are placed on a long wood serving board, with the top platter supported by small juice glasses

Take a look around and see what you can come up with!

Juicy Details and True Confessions

Home Goods, Pier 1 and Hobby Lobby are my favorite stores for dishes and accessories.  Pieces still available from other stores are sourced below

I did recently purchase the lettuce pitcher from Wayfair.com.  In my own defense, I put it on my wish list for at least 2 weeks before purchasing,  showing great restraint  😳
