Fearless Friday, Floral Escape

I haven’t had time for painting and sketching this week

as I seem to have a new hobby…

Talking to insurance agents, claim adjusters, and repair people

😩 ☹️ 😫

But one day I set it aside

and grabbed a canvas

and painted some flowers

for a little escape from reality

This is my inspiration photo

I started with a canvas that I painted with black gesso

and sketched the composition with thinned paint

Next I began placing the flowers

Very loose shapes in various colors

I painted in the background and the table next

I like to leave a little black showing for a dramatic affect

I purposely kept the feeling abstract,

just hinting at the curtain, table and window

Next I began adding more petals to the blooms

building them up with layers of paint

Stems and leaves were added,

and the vase and shadows were painted on the table top

Floral Escape, 14″ x14″ acrylic on canvas

We are making progress on the coast, both our insurance companies {house and boat} are sending reps today to inspect and document the damages, we hope the boat will be removed to a repair lot by the end of next week, and we are on a waiting list for roof repair, baby steps…

I hope to get back to my daily painting very soon!

I have been crafting though, and joined some very awesome blog hops
