Cheese, sausage and onions are rolled in pizza dough and baked

Ingredients
1
can
refrigerated pizza dough
1
lb.
sausage
8
oz.
sharp white cheddar cheese,* grated
1
cup
diced onion**
1
egg
beaten
Instructions
Brown sausage in a skillet until cooked through and crumbled. Remove to paper towels to drain
Saute onions in a little of the rendered sausage grease and drain
Unroll dough onto a sheet of parchment paper
Top dough with an even layer of sausage leaving 1/2 inch border at the edges
Top sausage with onions and cheese
Starting from the long side, carefully roll dough into a log
This can be covered and refrigerated at this point before baking if desired
Cut several slices in the top of the log and brush with the egg wash
Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until cooked through and golden
Cut into 1 inch slices to serve
Notes
*you can use mozzarella, provolone, or any cheese you want
**buy diced onion from the produce dept. for a shortcut
