Recipe Box, Greens, Birdies and Sand Traps

at the Masters

If there is a golfer in your family, you know about the Masters, THE golf tournament of the year…

The fans gather around every green or their TVs, watching every shot on the edge of their seats, awaiting the winner and this year’s proud wearer of the Green Jacket, the winner of the most coveted title in the world of golf…Masters Champion at Augusta National Golf Club, in Augusta, Georgia.

These Master’s themed recipes can bring some  ⛳️  to your table

Pimento Cheese sandwiches are a long standing tradition at the Augusta National, and you can make them a little fancier by using croissants, and adding strawberry or Bacon Jam and Praline Pecans

Or make Crostini with Maple Bourbon Bacon Jam and Praline Pecans

Be sure to use Georgia Pecans!

Of course a golfer needs plenty of greens, like this 5 Minute Prep recipe Krazy Kale

To inspire some birdies, I recommend Marco Polo Chicken on a bed of salad greens

And just for fun, make some sand traps

and serve Sand Dollars for dessert!

PIMIENTO CHEESE

Course Appetizer, condiment, Side Dish
Cuisine American, Southern
Keyword appetizer, cheese spread, pimiento cheese, sandwich spread
Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 2 cups

Ingredients

  • 8 oz Cracker Barrel Extra Sharp Cheddar
  • 8 oz Cracker Barrel Vermont White Cheddar
  • 4 oz chopped pimentos
  • 1/4-1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Place cheese and drained pimentos into a food processor with 1/4 cup mayo and pulse just a few times until just mixed.
  • Check to see if mixture holds together. If it is too dry add more mayo, 1-2 T and pulse once or twice. Check and add additional mayo until you get the consistency you want.
  • I use just enough mayonnaise to bind, you want to taste the cheese, not the mayo! Do not overmix! Makes about 2 1/2 cups. Keep in refrigerator for up to 1 month.
