Here’s a fun design that anyone can do, easy peasy!
Start with a color sketch of what you want to paint, either your own sketch or an inspiration photo
I used $2 white rustic chargers from Hobby Lobby and glossy acrylic craft paint in red, white, blue, black, yellow and orange
firecracker bodies were painted with a square flat brush
Wicks were added with a fine liner brush
Stars look hard but here’s a tip
Start with a dot of paint and then with a small fine liner brush, pull paint out from the center in 5 evenly spaced points to make the star
You can leave them skinny or fill them out
One charger got simple polka dots on the red firecrackers and one got fat white stripes
The black wicks were lit with orange & yellow dots and squiggles
Don’t fret over following your design exactly, it’s just a guide line

I have to share the blue heron my friend Jodi from the Creative Life In Between painted from one of my photos earlier this week
I have never painted birds, but she was fearless and look at the fabulous result!
Thanks for sharing Jodi! You can visit Jodi here to see more of her wonderful watercolors, and you can buy them on her Etsy shop McKinneyx2Designs here
Have fun and be fearless!
