Creations and Home Decor, Fall Decor Ideas and Crafts

I spent last weekend in a decorating flurry

It wasn’t really planned…

I decided to pop into Hobby Lobby and see what was going on…

There were pumpkins, leaves, scarecrows, sunflowers, oh my!!!

So hard to believe, a few weeks ago it was July!

My eyes got big and my cart overflowed

So many temptations, surely I glowed!

Then once at home I played and had fun

And didn’t stop until it was all done!

😍

One of my blog readers, Sheila, mentioned she was going to put sunflowers on her mailbox and I immediately thought that would be such a cute way to celebrate the arrival of fall!

I cut lengths of ribbon I had in my stash, wide orange burlap ribbon, polka dot burlap ribbon and a short piece of black and white check ribbon, each one a little shorter than the previous one.  I laid them in a stack, tying them together in the center with a piece of twine

I made a simple 4 loop bow out of the orange burlap, securing it in the center with a piece of wire

Then I made another 4 loop bow with the black and white checked ribbon and secured the bows to the ribbon lengths and topped it with a sunflower

If you have a newel post, they are very handy for styling bows!

It was so cute I was tempted to leave it inside, but it went out to the mailbox for some outdoor cheer

September and October are usually pretty dry so it should hold up okay for a while…Thank you Sheila for such a cute idea!

While shopping I  picked up dried flowers, fall picks, and a large tobacco basket

it was quick work weaving the decorations through the basket holes

and securing them with wire on the back when necessary

I set this on the mantel and perched a pumpkin on a candlestick on one side

and a taller candlestick with a stripped orb on the other side

And finally, I couldn’t ignore the front door

I got a white metal pumpkin and embellished it with a mini bittersweet wreath and a sunflower

And planted two metal sunflowers in the empty pots until I can fill them with pumpkins and mums next month

We’re still in the high 90s in Alabama, and won’t see much cooler temps for a while, so faux flowers are the best solution, no wilting or watering!

Next up is getting out the football decor, kick-off in 10 days!!

🍁 Here’s to Fall! 🌻
