Creations and Home Decor, Fall Decor Ideas and Crafts

I spent last weekend in a decorating flurry
It wasn’t really planned…
I decided to pop into Hobby Lobby and see what was going on…
There were pumpkins, leaves, scarecrows, sunflowers, oh my!!!
So hard to believe, a few weeks ago it was July!
My eyes got big and my cart overflowed
So many temptations, surely I glowed!
Then once at home I played and had fun
And didn’t stop until it was all done!
😍
One of my blog readers, Sheila, mentioned she was going to put sunflowers on her mailbox and I immediately thought that would be such a cute way to celebrate the arrival of fall!
I cut lengths of ribbon I had in my stash, wide orange burlap ribbon, polka dot burlap ribbon and a short piece of black and white check ribbon, each one a little shorter than the previous one. I laid them in a stack, tying them together in the center with a piece of twine
I made a simple 4 loop bow out of the orange burlap, securing it in the center with a piece of wire
Then I made another 4 loop bow with the black and white checked ribbon and secured the bows to the ribbon lengths and topped it with a sunflower
If you have a newel post, they are very handy for styling bows!
It was so cute I was tempted to leave it inside, but it went out to the mailbox for some outdoor cheer
September and October are usually pretty dry so it should hold up okay for a while…Thank you Sheila for such a cute idea!
While shopping I picked up dried flowers, fall picks, and a large tobacco basket
it was quick work weaving the decorations through the basket holes
and securing them with wire on the back when necessary
I set this on the mantel and perched a pumpkin on a candlestick on one side
and a taller candlestick with a stripped orb on the other side
And finally, I couldn’t ignore the front door
I got a white metal pumpkin and embellished it with a mini bittersweet wreath and a sunflower
And planted two metal sunflowers in the empty pots until I can fill them with pumpkins and mums next month
We’re still in the high 90s in Alabama, and won’t see much cooler temps for a while, so faux flowers are the best solution, no wilting or watering!
Next up is getting out the football decor, kick-off in 10 days!!
🍁 Here’s to Fall! 🌻
Fall is 40% off at Hobby Lobby right now
Ribbon is 50% off this week, 8/19-8/24, a great time to stock up!
Juicy Details
The tobacco basket was under $20, and I’ve seen similar for as much as $199 at Ballard Designs!

Beautiful Fall! Love the burlap, but I’ve discovered that sunshine bleaches my own colored burlap right back to beige. Hope your mailbox sits in the shade. Have enjoyed your blog for years.
It has already rained twice since I put it out there, but so far so good…I never thought about fading, but I can easily change it up if it starts looking tired 🙂 Thanks so much for the tip and for reading along!
Lovin’ your metal sunflowers in the planters too:@)
Thanks Lynn, I couldn’t resist!
Oh Jenna, you got your fall going on! I can’t wait for football (Roll Tide) and cooler temps. Your mailbox, mantel, and door are fabulously dressed for autumn. The metal sunflowers are so cute! Happy Wednesday, we have had NO rain!
Thanks Pam, I had too much fun! We had a downpour yesterday for about 15 minutes, yay!
Great minds think alike! I just bought sunflowers and other fall stems from Michaels on Monday. I love the ideas for your mailbox and mantel. As always, thank you for sharing.
Oh good! Have fun decorating Ann!!
I loved your rhyme that you inserted in there, Jenna, along with your pretty sunflower touches. Your mailbox looks so festive, and your door and metal sunflowers 🌻 🌻 are so welcoming! I LOVE the tobacco basket, and may have to visit Hobby Lobby this week. Thanks for the sunflower inspiration. I think I’ve told you that I have my table decorated with my sunflower decor.
Thank you Kitty, sunflowers just make everything happy don’t they?
I love your fall decor!! I have a few tobacco baskets so I think I’m going to try that. Your bow is so pretty!!!
Thanks Michelle, I had a lot of fun playing!
Jenna, your mailbox, mantel, and front porch look so pretty for fall! Those sunflowers are precious! We have had several triple digit days for the past week, and I am so ready for fall to arrive. Take care, and have a wonderful day!
Oh Shannon, us too, I am so tired of seeing 100+ on the thermometer! At least I could fool myself with a little fall decor, thank you!
Gosh Jenna I am sure that southern heat has you longing for cool fall temperatures, but I’m hanging on to summer as long as possible. Lol Your fall decorations are really cute, I especially like your decorated mailbox. I bet your mail person enjoys it too! 🌻
Thanks Cyndi! We are only supposed to be in the 80s this weekend, can’t wait!
Wow, your creative juices have really been flowing Jenna. Loving the mailbox with a touch of fall and the pretty metal pumpkin you spruced up for the door. My favorite is the tobacco basket for the mantel. We are getting our very own Home Goods here and I’m really worried!!!! I need to get busy for fall……….
Uh oh! But how exciting, you will love it! I have to limit my trips because I have no self control when it comes to HomeGoods!
Whoa, you’re really on a roll! I’ve just changed out a couple pillows, and have pumpkins waiting in the wings……but I’m feeling it!
I’m about to go to the coast for 2 weeks so I wanted to get a head start…I can’t wait until real pumpkins are available!! Thanks Rita!
Lovely, Jenna! What an inspiration!
Thank you!
Thank you Sally, I had too much fun 🙂
Hi Jenna, oh I too am looking forward to fall decorating soon. I love the idea of sunflowers on the mailbox. Your mantel looks great and i love the pumpkin on the door you decorated! Looks like you are off to a good start. Enjoy the week.
Julie
Thanks Julie, I had lots of fun!
Oh I need to get a few of those metal sunflowers!!
🌻😀🌻
Yes, you do!! I am loving them!!
beautiful – love your pumpkin painting!!
thanks Jodi!
I’m so ready for fall and cannot wait to get my decorations out. I usually start in September even though we are still in triple digits then but I don’t care…LOL Love your decor, especially the Alabama decorations. Going to be in Alabama next weekend to help my mother move and plan on getting some game things then! 🙂 Hugs!
Oh good, have fun! We are supposed to start getting some rain and lower temps next week…
Love your touch of fall Jenna! Your white metal pumpkin looks so festive embellished with a cheery sunflower. ♥
thanks Mary!
Jenna, you are having too much fun. I need to visit Hobby Lobby soon. Love your festive touches throughout your lovely home. Sunflowers re so cheerful and they do make us lol smile. Your fall touches do remind us that soon it will be here. Enjoy
Thanks Linda, I did have a lot of fun and am enjoying all the happy sunflowers!
Great ideas!! I am so ready for autumn!! I put my pine cone wreath out yesterday, it is good for transition. With the cooler weather the last few days, I am ready for the leaves to begin changing.
Me too, our leaves are falling but it’s from heat rather than autumn 🙂
Thank you for sharing at #ThursdayFavoriteThings. Pinned and shared. Have a lovely week. I hope to see you at next week’s party too!
