Spooky Fun Halloween Decoration

Welcome to the monthly Creative Craft Hop
hosted by Sara from Birdz of a Feather
Welcome friends, readers, and visitors from
Summer is flying by and it will be Halloween before we know it!
It’s time to start thinking about pumpkins and Halloween!

Today I’m going to show you a quick craft you can do
to add to your Halloween decor
All you need is a plastic charger plate, ribbon, wire and paper

I used a black charger plate {Hobby Lobby} that I already had
and several different ribbons from my stash

You could also use a round pizza pan from the Dollar Store
and paint it black
My original thought was to paint ghosts on the charger,
but then I got a better idea…paper ghosts!

I traced the inner circle of the charger on a piece of white card stock
so I’d know what size to make the ghost to fit inside
Then I drew a ghost shape and cut it out

I decided he needed a buddy!

AND here’s the best part!
Masking tape holds them in place so they can easily be removed
and the charger can return to the tablescaping supplies~
The paper ghosts can be kept to use again next year

Use a black marker to draw small circles for the ghostly faces

Make the bow by folding wide wired ribbon into loops

Secure it in the center with floral wire to form the bow

Then I added a length of burlap ribbon under the bow,
securing it on with the wire

Then a piece of candy corn ribbon {Hobby Lobby}
is tied on the bow center hiding the wire

I wanted to decorate the rim of the charger with candy corn
Candy corn is easy to draw or paint
You can see a tutorial here
Again I decided to use paper instead of paint
and found a perfect candy corn graphic on PicMonkey
I made a page full of candy corn and printed it out on card stock

If you’d like to print this out for your own craft
you can download the printable here
Once the ghosts and candy corn were taped on,
I used tape to secure the bow wire to the back of the charger
so the bow could hang over the edge of the charger in front
to fill the space I left on the charger rim

An easel stand is a great way to display the plate for Halloween decor
or to create a vignette anywhere in your home
You can get the faux candy corn pieces on the table on Amazon here
Watch out, other ghosts are likely to join the fun!
You can see the tutorial for the Burlap Bottle Ghost here
You could also add a command strip or glue a picture hanger on the back
and hang the plate on your wall or door
This heavy duty 2 sided tape is great for hanging things
without marring the surface with a nail
It is available on Amazon here
I am not an Amazon affiliate,
just recommending things I like and use!

I hope I’ve inspired you to have some Halloween fun!

Just adorable Jenna! Your charger with your friendly ghosts and candy corn keeps the ‘Happy’ in Halloween too! 🎃👻🍬🧡
Thank you! I love the fun, cute side of Halloween, but not the scary, gory stuff!
Adorable, Jenna!
Thanks so much!
Love it Jenna! Reminds me of the time Hubs and I stayed in a Haunted room (on purpose) but didn’t bump into any ghosts. He bought me a casper the friendly ghost colouring book as a consolation lol!
Oh goodness, you stayed in a haunted room??? You are brave! 👻
What a cute decoration! Too cute to be spooky 🙂
Thanks Angie!
Jenna, you amaze me girl. I just love your craft today. How stinkin’ cute. Thanks for sharing the tutorial.
Thanks Terrie, nothing complicated but it did turn out cute!
Jenna, this is so cute and not spooky! My girls would love it. Halloween will be here before we turn around. Happy Thursday!
Thank you Pam, I’m all about cute and nothing too scary for Halloween 👻
You never disappoint with your creations, Jenna! This is so delightful and fun for Halloween! You go!
Hmm, I don’t know why I’m showing up as anonymous! This is Gail @Purple Hues and Me! I just love your creations!
hi Gail, I don’t know why some comments are displaying anonymous… thanks so much, I always love your creations too!
Thanks so much! 👻
I absolutely LOVE this! Such a cute project AND you get to easily remove the design if you want to reuse the charger. Genius! Thanks so much for sharing. This couldn’t be cuter. Pinning.
Thanks so much Tammy!
This is really cute, Jenna! Found you at Crafty Creators Link Party #31 on Life as a Leo Wife.
Thanks so much Debra and thanks for visiting!
I saw a Halloween display in the drug store yesterday and it made me stop in amazement that this summer has flown by!
ha ha, yes, where did summer go??
Jenna I love your creativity and knowing you can dis-assemble this and use it all again in different ways is genius! Thanks for your DIY…so cute and clever. Have a great day my friend.
Thanks so much! I was worried that paint could be problematic on the glossy surface of the charger, so the cardstock was a great solution~
Jenna as I said, I love your creativity…Don’t know why that is “anonymous” in the above comments….It’s ME from Me and my Captain! lol
Kari
Oh, thanks Kari, yes not sure why that’s happening either, sorry!
Absolutely adorable and I love the fact that everything is removable. Very clever!
Thanks so much Ann!
I thought for sure you painted this!! Adorable idea
Thanks Patti, I planned to paint it originally, but was worried the glossy surface might be hard to paint on ~ the card stock worked great!
Cute project. I understand why you made it from paper so that you could reuse the plate but I think it is adorable enough to use every year. Pinned and love how it looks.
Aw, thanks Donna, much appreciated!
Your halloween plate is sooo cute! Great idea using paper as it seems it’d be faster than painting, although I’m sure with your mad skills you could paint it up quickly. Hope to see you share your links every Thursday 9pm (est) thru Monday at the #HomeMattersParty.
Thanks so much Allyson! I look forward to joining your party, thank you!
I’m ready for fall and a little spooky fun:@)
This is getting me in the mood!
This is just the cutest! I love love love it! It’s Boo-tiful! 👻
Thanks so much Nancy, easy fun craft!
As always, Jenna, another adorable project. I can’t believe it’s time to craft for Halloween yet — but it is!
Thanks Jeanie, have a great weekend!
wow all of these look amazing! can’t believe halloween is coming up soon
I know, time is flying! Thanks so much for visiting!
This is so pretty & perfect for those without a cutting machine! I love that you can remove everything and reuse the charger for other occasions. I’ve also never made a bow like you did, & I’m going to try it. It looks so much easier than holding all the loops! Pinned! Happy hopping & thanks for sharing on Crafty Creators!
