Is your tradition spending Thanksgiving weekend decorating for Christmas?
We always get a real tree, but don’t put it up until closer to Christmas
In the meantime I enjoy decorating other parts of the house
Especially the table!
Today we are going to paint some holiday chargers,
inspired by one of my favorite decorations
This Sparkling Fruit Tree
I often use foil to practice on when I paint glass or a slick surface
because the paint will react in a similar way on foil
You can plan your design and get a feel for your strokes
I mixed red with a dash of purple for the red pears
When painting multiples of the same thing, I paint them assembly line style,
painting one color/shape on each
before changing colors and painting the next shape
Just 2 or 3 strokes indicate the pear shapes and forms berries
Next green pears and a few leaves near the berries
I load my brush with yellow and green and let the colors mix as I paint them for dimension
Gold berries painted with tones of yellow and ochre
and a darker mix for the pear stems
Green dots dance around the perimeter
And small gold dots for the final touch
I like to use a lazy susan for projects like this,
You can easily spin the piece you’re working on as you paint
A stroke of white with a small brush for highlights on the pears and berries
A simple project made with $2 chargers from Hobby Lobby and gloss enamel craft paint
These chargers will be part of my tablescape next week
for the Annual Celebrate & Decorate Christmas Tablescape Hop
HO HO HO, HOLIDAYS!
