HHjr and I sort of tag team dinners during the week
Even though he loves to cook, between his work schedule and the boys afternoon activities,
I often shop and/or cook to help him out because he cooks so many things for me
“Do you want me to throw something in the slow cooker
or make a casserole for tomorrow night?” I asked him,
“Something the boys could dive into since their practice runs so late?”
“I saved this, recipe, thinking they would like it,” he said
Hamburger Casserole from Baking with Mom
When I read the ingredients I was dubious at best
Tomato soup, pasta, hamburger and cheese??
“What if I make it with sausage instead since we just had hamburgers?”
And just like that, a wonderful casserole was born!!
One bite and I was a believer!
After the sausage browns, add the Tomato soup and a little water
Next put the pasta into the casserole dish
Top with the tomato sausage sauce
And cheese!
Cover and refrigerate until ready to bake
The leftovers are great too!
This recipe will get you through the busy days ahead and keep everybody happy!
The BEST 4 Ingredient Dinner Ever
Ingredients
- 3 packages 8.5 oz, Ready Pasta {or 16 oz. pasta of choice, cooked al dente}
- 2 cans 10.75 oz, Tomato Soup {Campbells condensed}
- 1 lb breakfast sausage
- 1 cup grated Mozzarella Cheese {I used Kraft Creamy Melt Mozzarella with Philadelphia cream cheese}
- 1 cup grated sharp Cheddar cheese {I used Sargento Off the Block 4 State Cheddar}
- 1/3 cup water
Instructions
- Brown sausage in skillet.
- While sausage is browning cook pasta according to package directions. Ready Pasta only takes minutes in the microwave.
- When sausage has browned, drain and return to skillet. Stir in soup and water.
- Place pasta in prepared dish and pour sauce over it. Stir to coat with sauce.
- Stir in 1/2 of each cheese. Transfer to a large greased baking dish and top with remaining cheese. Cover with casserole lid or non stick foil. Can be refrigerated at this point for baking later.
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Bake covered for 20 minutes. Uncover and bake for 10 minutes more until hot and melty. If dish is cold, baking time may be longer.
This no sweat dinner is the perfect solution for December busy days
