Let’s head to the ice skating rink today
The inspiration for this drawing came from this print by Mary Englebreit
I did a pencil sketch first, and as you can see the arrows pointing below,
I did a lot of erasing before I felt like it looked right
Once satisfied, I inked the sketch and erased the pencil
I used colored pencils and started with the face and fur
I used a soft blue and added shadows to the white fur to make it look fluffy
Next I decided to add pattern to the scarf
Then, to the hat and coat,
embellishing as I went along
It’s fun to add or change things
as you get involved with your drawing or painting
I love to use colored pencils
If you apply a lot of pressure you will get deep color,
and for lighter areas, apply color softly
They also work well with markers and watercolor
I added “snowflakes” with a lavender blue marker
“Going Skating” 5″ x 8″ colored pencil on mixed media paper
Happy Creating, and Be Fearless!
